Baby Food Diet

Hollywood's newest weight loss diet comes in tiny little jars.

BACKGROUND Start the Diet Now Advertisement

Update: Jennifer Aniston & Reese Witherspoon on Baby Food Diet

The latest fad to hit body-crazed Hollywood is the Baby Food Diet. Yep, you guessed it, noshing on jars of mashed sweet potatoes and gloppy bananas is the newest trend that makes you question if Hollywood is suffering a need to regress and feel younger (much younger!) or if there is something nutritiously beneficial to spooning down jars of the glassed stuff? You'll hear about Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and even some of the Desperate Housewives hitting a jar of baby food to ease cravings.

PRO
  • Baby food is free of additives, pure and full of vitamins
  • Portions are small enough to control cravings and avoid the temptation to overeat
  • Many selections are gluten-free for those on a gluten-free diet
  • Organic varieties available
  • Broad variety of flavors
CON
  • Small portions could lead to a binge later on
  • Taste is bland -Since very little chewing is involved, satiety might not be achieved
DIET and NUTRITION

There are no specific guidelines that have been created yet for The Baby Food Diet . In time, your local bookstore will carry a guide on how to lose weight by subsisting on baby food. For now, the requirements are:

The dieter eats either all baby food or eats one adult meal and baby food for the rest of the day. Since babies' digestive systems are so young and innocent, most baby food that you'll find at the grocery store is free of added fats, fillers and other additives. Organic baby food is also lining the shelves so you can be sure that the mushy stuff you're eating does not contain genetically-modified ingredients, growth hormones, or antibiotics.

EXERCISE

Since The Baby Food is more of a trend right now rather than a specific guideline, no exercise recommendations have been put forth. But as reality and science has shown us, the more you expend and the less you consume, you will shed the pounds.

CONCLUSION

The Baby Food Diet is likely to inspire some good chuckles and grimaces as its popularity grows. From a nutritional perspective, the diet is clearly packed with veggies and fruits and thereby full of vitamins and minerals; and it does have the portion control element going for it too. As for its long-term ability to keep off any lost pounds? That still remains to be seen.

I am 24 years old and 200 pounds, I really dont have time to do any exercise because I'm a full time student and have a full time job, so I'll go today buy some baby food and i'll begin with it tomorrow. I'll be back in two weeks to let you know how its going.

I used to weigh 260 lbs. I started using this diet, and I've lost 60 lbs in 2 months. I eat 1 baby food fruit for breakfast. A small portion of either fish or chicken for lunch with a side salad, dressing on the side. For dinner, I'll have a salad and a vegi or fruit baby food. I drink only water and iced tea (no sugar added. Just lemon), and I exercise every day. Once a week I'll eat a portion of rice, or some type of carb. If I have any cravings for sweets, it's sugar free and only one serving. No more than one sweet per week.

The fruit ones are really good. I admit that I haven't tried the others like the vegetables and stuff, mainly because I heard from others how horrid they tasted. The fruit jars and the ones in the plastic containers are delicious! So easy on the go, and I've lost 6 pounds so far in a little over 3 weeks. I wouldn't recommend using this a breakfast, lunch, dinner type of diet, but for snacks, I think it's fine.

babyfood is disgusting, whole foods are so much better for you and more enjoyable.

I've been following this diet for the past two weeks and have already dropped 4 pounds! I have slim-fast for breakfast, a jar of baby food as a snack, a slim-fast bar and a jar of baby food for lunch, and another jar of baby food as a snack. I eat WHATEVER I want for dinner, BUT I now put my dinner on a smaller plate to make the food look bigger. I'm even more motivated to lose weight now and have started exercising this past week too! My only problem is drinking water, but I'm working on that. :) Since I pretty much eat the baby food as snacks, I think it's going to be pretty easy to stick with it. I don't miss my chips or granola bars at all!

Okay... so I am the same one who wrote way back in september when i had first decided to try this diet and i thought i would check back in ... The diet is not sooo bad.. the first few days i was really hungry but i was eating 1 babyfood for breakfast, a salad and baby food for lunch, and one baby food for dinner, i cut out all junk food and sweets, after the first few days i didnt feel as hungry, my body did ajust, but after 3 weeks i had lost 15 lbs and i was feeling proud of myself but i also missed real food.. this diet takes ALOT of discipline.. well i was getting very bored and ready to say SCREW THIS... please remember my start weight was just a little over 180 lbs 184 to be exact and it did help but i have a looooooong way to go to get to my goal weight and this is not a good diet for long term... so now. i have switched it up some.. i do a baby food before i leave for work at 7, a slim fast shake at 9 30, a side salad or a soup at hand, sometimes a half of a chicken lunchmeat sandwich ... i just do something very light, then at last break at work i feel hungry again so i will have another baby food.. and then a very light dinner or a slim fast shake.. if i'm hungry i will snack on something light or fruity... or i will just have an extra baby food. and i'm still losing weight.. i feel much fuller.. and i'm eating real food for lunch.. its not full of fat but its still something solid so i dont feel like im having JUST babyfood.. and i will say having a shake or something in the morning really does help you feel fuller and more satisfied the rest of the day

I have been eating baby food for 3 days now and I thought I would see if other people did it on purpose! I have been sick for a month and out of desperation to help me my mom thought she would grab some baby food and see if I could keep it down. Not the best tasting stuff, but when you can't keep anything in you it is a great way to go. So far the baby food has been the only thing I can eat. I do add a pinch of salt (literally just a one little shake so it probably equals 1/8 tsp or less) and that helps the taste of the dinners. The fruits are really good, I prefer them cold. I am not sure I would recommend this as a life style change, but it works as a temporary fix if your body is out of whack with a virus. I could also see using it for lunches at work when you need something quick and nutritious. I know I don't always have alot of time for lunch so quick and easy is great! I am going to research some more and see if more people use this for IBS or SIBO.

I feel sorry for you girls. Diet should not be temporary fix to lose weight. You should make a lifetime change to eat healthy and exercise. Will you lose weight, yes of course due to severe calorie deficit. Eventually your body will stop losing weight and you'll put back on the pounds. No one in real life could be this disciplined to eat this way the rest of their lives. It's a shame that celebs bring such awful diets into popularity. You all need to eat veggies, fruits, lean meats, etc and lift weights and do some cardio. Eat, your body will thank you for it. I'm eating 2500 a day and more and I'm losing weight. but I also work out daily and strength train. I don't consider it a diet, I consider it a lifestyle. Please seek other means of weight loss, this is a terrible diet.

I too, ran across some baby food in the aisle one day last week and thought, "apples and blueberries?", "in this little jar??", "for 40 cents???" - "that's a good deal, and I'm getting apples and blueberries all-in-one."
As an athlete, I eat the "oatmeal and apples", "apples, pears, and bananas", and "apples and blueberries", to supplement my diet, lose a few pounds, and stay in shape.
You get alot of vitamins and this is a great way to lose weight. I usually eat in the morning and at night, and eat a couple of normal meals throughout the day.
If you have any questions, email me
