Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet

It's the cookie diet that everyone is raving about.

BACKGROUND

Eat your cookies and lose weight? Sounds like a diet dream come true. Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet plan is a program that helps you to lose weight while munching on his low-fat, high fiber and protein-filled cookies which are also specially-formulated to suppress appetite via its secret recipe of key ingredients. For more than 30 years, Dr. Siegal has been preparing, baking and distributing these cookie snacks to help people manage their weight loss goals. He still continues to personally mixes every batch of his proprietary protein formula in his private bakery near his Miami medical clinic.

Here is how The Cookie Diet works: You eat six of these specially-formulated cookies during the day in addition to one meal eaten at the end of the day. A typical day is comprised of about 800 calories and 70 grams of carbohydrates. You can also eat the cookies in conjunction with another diet. In addition to cookies, Dr. Siegal also has a line of shakes and soups. By following this very low-calorie diet plan you can expect to lose up to 15 pounds in one month. Dr. Siegel’s cookies are available for purchase online, through professional resellers, drug stores, doctors or at one of Dr. Siegel’s retail store locations.

PRO
  • Idea of eating a cookie might prevent diet binges
  • Cookies contain protein, amino acids and fiber
  • May help to suppress hunger
  • Many people have had success with losing weight following this plan
  • Contains an organized and structured eating plan
CON
  • No clear exercise guidelines are given
  • Very low-calorie diet plan
  • Dr. Siegel’s Cookie Diet may not be a long-term solution to weight loss
DIET and NUTRITION

On The Cookie Diet, you will eat six cookies throughout the day in addition to one meal at the end of the day. That meal should include six ounces of lean white meat protein and one cup of vegetables. In addition, you should consume eight glasses of liquid a day. Coffee and tea are allowed on this diet. There are five varieties of Dr. Siegal's cookies that you can choose from: chocolate, oatmeal raisin, coconut, banana, and blueberry.

EXERCISE

There is no guidance offered.

CONCLUSION

On the face of it, the idea of a "Cookie Diet" sounds a bit bizarre but enticing. Dr. Siegel’s Cookies are on par to meal replacement shakes that pack nutrition in a quantity-controlled product. Critics feel that the diet is too restrictive and too low in calories despite the thousands of people who have had success in losing weight on Dr. Siegel’s Cookie Diet. Since the plan is so rigid, speak with your doctor if you are interested in following this diet.

First day went good I only needed three cookies (microwaved is a most for me!) for dinner I had veggies and boiled chicken for flavor I added chill powder to the boiling water it was good I will admit I struggled with drinking enough water throughout the day because I just don’t like water that much, maybe if I add lemon or something anyway I will post again in a week to tell how much weight I lost! posted Jan 26th, 2010 9:29 am Profile send message  Message

I started the cookies on 1/22/10. Today is 1/25/10 and I have lost 5 lbs. I only need about 4 cookies in a day and then my 500 to 700 calorie dinner. I do about 30 minutes of exercise a day and when the weight comes off - I will do more. I started at 288 lbs. and I am 283 lbs. this morning. I, too, just needed a way to jump start my reduced calorie plan, and get past the hunger that sabotages me EVERY TIME. I will say that I have no food cravings - which is usually what makes me cheat. And, I LOVE food... all food... so to not be tempted by "real" food or "junk" food is amazing to me. I do drink lots of water - about 96 oz. a day and two glass of iced tea (no sugar or sweetners!) I drink no diet sodas or regular soda. I do like Dasani Essence water: see this link: http://www.dasani.com/#/essence
They have no calories, sweetners, preservatives! My dinners have been lean protein (fish, chicken and ground round hamburger, and veggies... maybe some lowfat cheese. It's going great - I will keep posting. I will admit that the texture of the cookies is a bit off... the flavor isn't too bad. So, I do drink alot of water to wash them down - but they are small and it's not hard to do so. Hey, people eat live bugs on Survivor - what's a little diet cookie. Let's get tough and beat this weight problem we all have. Also, read up on thyroid conditions... yes, I know... the doctor tested you and said you didn't have a problem... well those doctors are going off of medical tests that are out of date. Do your research and find your answers - then take them to your doctor. Be proactive!! posted Jan 25th, 2010 11:06 am

I started my cookies today. I have the chocolate ones and they taste like brownies to me!! Towards the end of the day when it was time for dinner I felt a little drained, light headed, and a little hungry. I only ate 4 of the 6 during the day and had brocilli and 6 ounce tyson steak strips for dinner. I'll keep you guys posted posted Jan 9th, 2010 12:15 am Profile send message  Message

Not sure if I like it yet...I just started it today. And it is true that they are not very tasty(doing the coconut), but if it will jumpstart my weight loss than I can stomach them for a couple weeks. I plan to use them for no longer than a month in conjunction with the exercise that I already do. I am at 141.4 lbs and the goal is 120 lbs. While I am realistic that I am not going to loose 20 lbs in a month...this should help to get it going. Also the cookies are a little better if you microwave them for about 10 seconds. posted Jan 6th, 2010 10:13 am

I just started the cookie diet (for the people against the diet, THEY DON'T TASTE LIKE COOKIES) on Sunday 1/3/10. I needed to get back in control of what I am eating and teach myself to eat small meals all day long. That is what this diet is doing, limiting your intake & srinking your stomach. So far it is 1/5/10 and I am down from 170 to 166. I am so excited because my hardest thing with a diet is not seeing results. I will post more next week. posted Jan 5th, 2010 12:44 pm

I heard a lot of good things about this diet, and really wanted to try it. I ordered the coconut and oatmeal cookies, one box each, and found the taste to be so bad that I cannot even eat them. They have a terrible aftertaste, and I could not even finish a cookie. I really wanted to do this diet, but they taste horrific. It was suggested that I drink a glass of water after eating the cookie, but I found I had to drink a glass of water just to get the cookie down. I would like to get a refund. posted Jan 4th, 2010 9:01 pm
