Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet

It's the cookie diet that everyone is raving about.

BACKGROUND

Eat your cookies and lose weight? Sounds like a diet dream come true. Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet plan is a program that helps you to lose weight while munching on his low-fat, high fiber and protein-filled cookies which are also specially-formulated to suppress appetite via its secret recipe of key ingredients. For more than 30 years, Dr. Siegal has been preparing, baking and distributing these cookie snacks to help people manage their weight loss goals. He still continues to personally mixes every batch of his proprietary protein formula in his private bakery near his Miami medical clinic.

Here is how The Cookie Diet works: You eat six of these specially-formulated cookies during the day in addition to one meal eaten at the end of the day. A typical day is comprised of about 800 calories and 70 grams of carbohydrates. You can also eat the cookies in conjunction with another diet. In addition to cookies, Dr. Siegal also has a line of shakes and soups. By following this very low-calorie diet plan you can expect to lose up to 15 pounds in one month. Dr. Siegel’s cookies are available for purchase online, through professional resellers, drug stores, doctors or at one of Dr. Siegel’s retail store locations.

PRO
  • Idea of eating a cookie might prevent diet binges
  • Cookies contain protein, amino acids and fiber
  • May help to suppress hunger
  • Many people have had success with losing weight following this plan
  • Contains an organized and structured eating plan
CON
  • No clear exercise guidelines are given
  • Very low-calorie diet plan
  • Dr. Siegel’s Cookie Diet may not be a long-term solution to weight loss
DIET and NUTRITION

On The Cookie Diet, you will eat six cookies throughout the day in addition to one meal at the end of the day. That meal should include six ounces of lean white meat protein and one cup of vegetables. In addition, you should consume eight glasses of liquid a day. Coffee and tea are allowed on this diet. There are five varieties of Dr. Siegal's cookies that you can choose from: chocolate, oatmeal raisin, coconut, banana, and blueberry.

EXERCISE

There is no guidance offered.

CONCLUSION

On the face of it, the idea of a "Cookie Diet" sounds a bit bizarre but enticing. Dr. Siegel’s Cookies are on par to meal replacement shakes that pack nutrition in a quantity-controlled product. Critics feel that the diet is too restrictive and too low in calories despite the thousands of people who have had success in losing weight on Dr. Siegel’s Cookie Diet. Since the plan is so rigid, speak with your doctor if you are interested in following this diet.

Let me start off by saying these cookies are more like eating flavored sponges than anything else!

I will admit that they work, I have been using for 8 days now and have lost approx. 8lbs. I usually cannot eat 6 cookies per day. I eat them when hungry to help control my appetite that's it!

I feel people who start this diet have more to do with their own weight loss than the cookies...let's face it, it takes all of my will power just to hoist one of these to my mouth for a bite! I have to wash them down with water every time!!!

The chocolate taste much better than the blueberry. I love blueberry muffins but these things actually turn my stomach. The only reason I stick with it is because I bought 3 boxes (2 chocolate, 1 blueberry) and since the diet is shedding pounds I will stick with it so I don't feel I wasted the money.

I haven't tried the other flavors nor do I want to. After my 3 weeks are up I will most likely not return to this diet again!

What I have learned is to slowly eat my food and wait between servings to make sure my tummy is full! I think the awful taste of the cookie's themselves has provided better personal eating habits for myself.

I plan to start taking salids for lunch, exercising with Wii Fit, and eating a sensible dinner.

Anyone on this diet owes themselves a big hand! Your will power is what makes this diet successful NOT THE COOKIES! posted Mar 11th, 2009 11:25 am

It definitely works. The oatmeal raisin tastes the best. I find it much easier putting them in the toaster and eating them with water or diet soda. posted Feb 18th, 2009 10:33 pm

The cookies tasted like cardboard. I ate the cookies for 2 days and they ended up making me very sick. The company has a no refund policy so now I am stuck with 130.00 worth of cookies that I can't use. posted Feb 16th, 2009 12:08 pm Profile send message  Message

Oatmeal Raisin seems to be my preference...warmed up and sipped with water while eating it...amazingly enough it does fill you up...in the afternoon I need two - which correlates with when I used to find myself pigging out. All in all I am pleased w/ the diet...I thought the cookies would be horrible and I'd be starving but I'm really not. I'm a pretty busy person so it works well, I struggle more on the weekends cause I'm at home and don't have much to do....but I really do like this diet...this is my first week and I've lost 4 lbs in 5 days... posted Jan 26th, 2009 6:12 pm

I have been on the cookie diet for 13 weeks and have went from 206 to 160. I could not be happier with the results. It is a simple diet to follow, but not "easy". posted Jan 21st, 2009 5:39 pm

Dr. Seigal's cookie diet is a great way to lose weight! You will not be hungry throughout the day! The cookies are not like tollhouse, but they are not bad! If you need a structured diet that takes the confusion of "counting calories" than this is the diet for you. Just remember that after you lose the weight, you will have to count calories and eat sensibly or you will regain the weight. Best of Luck! posted Jan 18th, 2009 4:51 pm

I didn't like Dr. Siegal's cookies at all. I then tried SMART FOR LIFE WEIGHT MANAGEMENT'S and they were so much better. They were moister and filled me up more. The cookies have helped me loose 52lbs to date and I only have 23 more to go. lots of flavors of cookies, soups, muffins and snack chips. The clinic staff was unbelivable in the support that they gave me. give it a try. posted Jan 8th, 2009 9:31 am

I found that making my own cookies works a lot better (much cheaper too!) You can get low-fat recipes of the net or try a book called ONE SMART COOKIE full of recipes...At least when I make my own, I know what's in them and I can tweek the recipes to my tastes.Much better, no big money to spend, no cookies sitting in a warehouse! posted Jan 3rd, 2009 1:39 pm

I am on day 6 of the cookie diet and have lost just over 6 pounds!!! I'm very happy with that result. I do find it quite hard but the one meal a day is something to look forward too. Also, I broke down today after buying my kids KFC and I ate one peice of chicken and not all the skin and one small colslaw and that was enough food. Hence, I think the diet is shrinking my stomach? Or mabey it's just the side eefect of the cookies. Usually I would eat two pieces of KFC chiken and mashed potatoes and caoleslaw - today I neede a much smaller portion so it's really helping with portion clontrol. posted Nov 26th, 2008 2:30 pm
