Akavar

Claims that you can eat all you want and still lose weight.

BACKGROUND

Akavar 20/50 is a European weight loss pill that has achieved much success. It has made its move to the U.S. seeking the same. Akavar boasts that it is the ultimate fat cure and that you'll see the results you seek without any diet restrictions or inclusion of exercise.

Akavar is designed to restrict your daily caloric intake to less than normal. Without those calories that your body requires for energy, you'll start to use your fat reserves. This will of course cause you to lose weight and inches. However, you'll immediately gain back that weight should you stop using Akavar. The website offers little-to-know information about the product leaving open many questions about the supplement.

PRO
  • Promotes eating all you like and still seeing weight loss
  • Reduces urge to overeat
  • Do not have to count calories
  • Won't feel hungry
CON

Akavar 20/50 leaves a lot to be desired. Some of the more concerning details include:

  • Promotes a lifestyle without exercise and healthy diet
  • No FDA approval
  • Web site offers very little information
  • No published clinical research
  • Does not publish ingredients
  • Contains caffeine
INGREDIENTS

It takes a lot of research to find what is inside those little Akavar tablets, as the product's website bypasses any discussion. Akavar includes many caffeine sources including xanthine and green tea leaf. Other ingredients include yerba mate, guarana seed, ginger root, kola nut, Tibetan ginseng, cocoa nut, rice flour, yellow no. 6, red no. 3 and Gelatin, among many others.

CONCLUSION

Akavar 20/50 leaves a lot of open questions- which really leads to concerns about both the product's effectiveness and impact on the body. With so many diet pills and supplements on the market, it is important for manufacturers to paint a detailed picture of the product to help consumers make the most educated decisions. Many diet pills and supplements provide all of the information that Akavar seems to have conveniently left out. It is also a little misleading that without diet and exercise you can still lose weight. Anyone who has ever committed to losing weight knows that without important changes to diet and exercise, results are often not achieved.

Common Misspellings

All the company did was repackage their old product Retiva...Didn't work under that name and doesn't work under new packaging. posted Jul 1st, 2008 7:54 am

I have been taken this pill for a week and I've lost two pounds but i think this is just a hype because if i continue to drink this much water before a meal without the pills i believe i wouldn't be hungry cuz water fills you up. posted Jun 30th, 2008 10:08 am

I was taking Akavar for about 2 weeks, when I had an bad episode with Vertigo. 2 weeks prior to that my daughter, who was taking them as well, had what she thought was a panic attack while driving home, but put it down to maybe having too much caffeine that day. We both stopped taking it for now, but we will try it again. Hopefully nothing like that happens again, but if it does, we will definately know it is the Akavar. posted Jun 26th, 2008 8:29 am

Just wanted to let everyone know, I bought the pills 2 1/2wks ago and they gave the worse chest pain. So I took them back to Wal-Mart and they refunded my money, no questions asked. As long as you do it within 30 days, they will refund you. posted Jun 23rd, 2008 4:55 pm

The success I previously reported was not as I thought. It has now been a few months since I started (I wish this site had time/date stamps on the messages). I stepped on a scale the other day and to my chagrin, I have not lost a single pound at all, though my body shape did, for a while, look slimmer. Despite trying to cut doewn on my eating (so as to help the pills do their job) and avoiding the really high-calorie stuff altogether, Akavar did not work for me. I cannot recommend it to anyone at this point. posted Jun 23rd, 2008 10:03 am

Well, after reading a majority of the posts, I honestly feel that the pill may do some good to speed up the weight loss process. I recently had a let down in my own personal weight loss goal. I had been increasing my physical activity, ie, eliptical machine at home and upper body workouts with my husband's curl bar and then last week we spent it abroad in Europe where in fact we spent the majority of our trip walking and climbing stairs. Surprise, surprise, Europeans don't eat super sized portions that we're soooo used to here, but they sure enjoy sucking on those cancer sticks. So I really didn't pig out over there. Anyway, long story short, got back home expecting a weight loss, but no sir! Nothing! Extremely frustrated with my stagnation, I've started Avakar today. Don't feel any side effects, but of course I usually don't pop more than one pill at a time, sensitivity issues. I also bought a scale which measures water and body fat levels. Let's see what happens. Currently I am 5'5", 155 pounds, body fat a whopping 36%! I am mother of two and work full time. I will keep you all posted for those interested. Good luck to everyone. posted Jun 20th, 2008 8:11 am

Hi guys!! I tried a lot of diet pills to help me get to my ideal weight... nothing helped but AKAVAR. I do understand when people are worried about side effects and stuff, but gotta try it out and sometimes it may work for some people and for some other don't. But I am amazed... I've always been a lover of sweets and carbs... and I've gone through some rough times, working out and dieting without losing weight or losing a little and gaining it back... and for the first time, I feel there's something that works, and really helps you to make the job done. The pill doesn't make it happen, it's you that gotta make it happen. I've been 4 days taking this, and I never felt so happy, my cravings are down to 0, and when I have to eat, i don't eat as much as i used to, i eat without anxiety... I lost like 3 lbs in 4 days... taking one pill a day, eating pretty healthy, without dieting. I woudln't lie in such a serious matter. Health is not a joke, I see this product as a supplement, not a miracle pill. Congrats to everyone losing weight with akavar!! =) posted Jun 19th, 2008 4:34 pm

Hello everyone, I would like to share my story. Since I was a baby I have always been fat (Grammar School, H.S., College) by the age of 22 I reached 245lbs, off course everybody made fun of me all through my school years didn’t have many friends…One day I told myself that it was enough and with diet and exercise I was able to go down to 165lbs. I show my co-workers pictures of how I use to be and they can’t believe that’s me….I think I reached a plateau and decided to try this pill. I have been on it for about 3 week and so far I have lost 10lbs. I really try to eat healthy (Soy Shake for breakfast & dinner) lunch is usually a spinach, tuna salad or lean cuisine…I run 2 miles everyday and 20 minutes on the elliptical machine I also do weights twice a week to try to tighten all the lose skin. I take the pill in the morning for breakfast and lunch. Once the month is over I’ll start taking the pill 3 times a day… posted Jun 18th, 2008 4:53 pm

Hello again....I looked on the company website and couldn't find a return address to get my money back so I emailed them by clicking on "contact us". They emailed me back the same day and said that if I bought the pills at a store (which I did, at Wal-Mart) then I am able to return them there. But if you order them thru their rep you have to call: 1-800-898-5153. I am gonna return them tomorrow (I only took 3 pills total) and let you all know if I was able to get my money back. posted Jun 16th, 2008 2:28 pm

Hi again, it's been 1 day since I bought the pills. I have taken a total of 3 pills so far. 1 yesterday and 2 today. I felt good yesterday, very energized, yet I felt like I was drunk. I took 1 this morning (7:00am) and it made me feel ok. Then I took another at 12:00pm for lunchtime and I have had heart pains ever since (it is now 4:40pm). The pain is constant and hasn't let up at all. I am at work so it makes it even worse. I also had to go to the gas station on my lunch break to re-fuel for the weekend, and I got scared cause I got real dizzy and almost couldn't control my leg to be able to move it from the gas to the brake. Thankfully I made it ok. I hate to do any harm to my heart so I have decided not to take any more pills. Instead I am gonna have my husband mow me a trail in the woods so I can jog every morning before work. I will keep you all updated every week on my progress so that you can compare me just jogging and you taking the pills. Also, I plan on returning the pills does anybody know the return address for a refund? I looked on their website but it didn't have it. (surprise surprise) posted Jun 14th, 2008 8:34 am

Hello all...........I have been ingesting these pills oh for about three days now and on the first day I noticed that ( I only took one instead of two) my stomach was burning alittle and was just generally upset. I hadn't eaten anything new or unusuallal the pills were under suspision. Any who I feel entergized and well but I am concerned that I may be eating more. I don't know if I am loosing anything I don't believe in looking at the scale but I will eventually. I think I am going to stop taking these pills if I don't begin to change my eating habits along with my excersizing habits. Oh and I really don't like the fact the fda is not behind this product. Good luck all..... posted Jun 14th, 2008 8:34 am

I bought the pills over a month ago and when I did follow it, it WORKED. I will tell you the truth, if I wanted to "binge and splurge" I would NOT take the pill so I could wholeheartedly overeat! I know when I take the pills, I have no appetite to eat, none at all and I HAVE to MAKE myself eat....The bathroom part, I have not had any issues with, just started again today 6/13/08. Will post again next Friday! posted Jun 14th, 2008 8:34 am

I just bought these pills yesterday (6/12/08) and will keep updating you all every week. I am 5'9 and weighed in this morning at 197lbs. I am 24 and when I met my husband, I weighed 140. We just got married 5-3-08 and when I saw the wedding photos I immediately became very upset cause I didn't realize just how big I have gotten. I work in an office and we have a candy dish out for clients and I was always sneaking a piece. But I took 1 pill yesterday and 2 today and I have no desire to eat the candy. For those of you that say it doesn't work, are you truly overweight or are you 120lbs and need to lose only 5lbs? I believe that the more a person weighs, the faster it would be to lose weight. Maybe the pill isn't designed for those that just need to lose a few cosmetic pounds. But good luck to everyone and I will keep you all posted on my progress. posted Jun 13th, 2008 3:15 pm

I have really enjoyed reading all your comments! I am hoping that Loretta & Loretta Lopez are not the same person. I am truly rooting for the first Loretta. I am inspired by her and hope she writes againg soon. As for the guy that said that all the comments were a good read, he is right, this could be a Akavar novelette! posted Jun 12th, 2008 4:56 pm

I cannot understand why there are still so many ridiculous posts. 1st it seems that you truly believe that doing nothing but taking an orange pill will work. If you actually want to lose weight as you claim why wouldn't you add a bit of exercise and... the dreded diet to the mix. As for the post about "waking up surrounded by fast food" I pray you are joking. I am very sad that the underage people are using this. So many high school students end up in the hospital or worse because of misuse of drugs of any kind. If you are just hoping to lose 10 pounds eat healthy and exercise a bit more- don't put yourself at risk to fit in. I have taken the pills for a week now and have lost 5 pounds but I also watch what I eat and workout. There isn't a perfect pill that will do the work for you, but this is a nice help to have along for the ride. posted Jun 12th, 2008 11:16 am

Well, I just started the pill today, I feel fine, but notice that I wasn't hungry at my usual time. I have lost 35lbs on my own with diet and exercise and do want to lose that extra 5 for my goal weight. I am hoping that this will be that extra push. To all remember that the key to weight loss is diet and exercise. Try getting on the scale once a week and planning out how much to cut back the up coming week. This will help you maintain your weight and will teach you self control. Good Luck to all. posted Jun 12th, 2008 9:25 am
