BACKGROUNDBACKGROUND Start the Diet Now Advertisement

Launched in November, 2010, the Weight Watchers PointPlus program is a new way of helping health-minded folks eat more nutrient-rich foods. The new system, which takes into account fat, fiber, protein, carbohydrates, replaces the Momentum program.

Using advancements in nutritional science, Weight Watchers developed a formula that wraps up all of these nutrition factors into one easy-to-use number. On the plan, you'll get a daily personalized PointsPlus values goal, so you know how much to eat to lose weight safely―while feeling satisfied.

Just like all Weight Watchers' plans, with the PointsPlus program, there are no required foods, just a flexible eating plan that encourages you to eat more nutrient-rich foods, like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains.

But new to this plan, are Power Foods, a specific category of foods that earn high marks for their all-star nutrition profile and their ability to keep you feeling fuller longer.

EXERCISEEXERCISE

As with all Weight Watchers plans, you are strongly encouraged to exercise. Study after study proves that activity promotes weight loss when combined with improved eating habits. More important, it’s key for keeping weight off.

The amount of exercise you chose to do, if any, depends on what you’re trying to achieve. For example, the amount of exercise required for lasting weight loss and cardiovascular benefits is considerably more than the amount needed for general health benefits like lower blood pressure and stress reduction. But the bottom line is that incorporating exercise into your weight loss strategy will ultimately result in positive effects to your health.

CONCLUSIONCONCLUSION

Weight Watchers has set itself apart by being one of the leaders in successful weight loss. Its unparalleled achievements are only the result of the program's ever-evolving plans, which stay abreast of the latest in nutrition science news and the psychology of eating.

The PointsPlus program is the new way to lose weight from the experts at Weight Watchers. They've combined clinical research with the proven Weight Watchers approach to develop an effective system for making healthy, satisfying choices. All this gives you an edge that can help you reach your weight loss goals.

My question is how many points would my 62 yr. old husband weighing 220lbs, height 5'9"? My husband will NOT join, but will eat what I eat, however that won't be the right points, what would the daily pointsplus target be for a 62 yr. old man who is 5' 9' weighing 220lbs? I am starting my first week and excited about how this new Weight Watcher plan will work!

I'm happy with my weight loss on this program (10 lbs in 6 weeks). It doesn't even seem like I am on a diet. I don't feel deprived. I don't feel like I can't wait for this diet to be over (like I did with South Beach). It is indeed teaching me lifelong diet habits --painlessly. I signed up for the online program. Effortless to record points. 100x easier than counting calories and adding them up on your own. You become very aware of portion sizes.

Love the new PP plan. I have lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks. I am eating all of my points, eating fruits whenever I want them and the weight is falling off. I keep reading on this site about people gaining weight on the PP plan but no one in my WW meetings has reported gaining any weight; just the opposite.

This is an excellent program as it deals with your health as well as your weight. You can see by going through it that it incorporates all of the significant nutrition and health issues that have been discussed for a number of years. It is the real deal, geared to lifestyle and not a fad.
