Blood Type diet
Is your health tied to your blood type?
For some, the key to managing their weight once and for all could have been right under their skin all along. Some researchers suggest that by following a diet compatible with ones own blood type, you could very well unlock the mystery to your personal struggle with losing weight.
Created by Dr. Peter D'Adamo, and also referred to as the "Eat Right 4 Your Type" diet, the Blood Type Diet introduces its scientific research as a plan to help you makeover your lifestyle and start living healthier.
Your blood type can have a lot to do with the way in which your body processes, digests and metabolizes food and nutrients. Adhering to the Blood Type Diet, you'll eat foods that are most complimentary to your body. You'll first need to identify your own blood type and then follow a plan as outlined below.
- If research is true, you will not only achieve weight loss, but a natural defense to common illnesses like cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular disease
- Author is authority on subject, respected in field
- The Blood Type diet can be quite restrictive
Dietary guidance is determined by each individual's blood type.
Blood Type A Recommended to follow a diet rich in complex carbs and low fat. You should limit dairy, meat and animal fat.
Blood Type B Those most balanced of all the blood types, Type Bs should incorporate meat, dairy, fruits and vegetables into their meals daily. Chicken should be very limited.
Blood Type AB This is a vegetarian diet rich in fruits, vegetables and grains. Strictly limit fish, meat, chicken and dairy.
Blood Type O
Just like your diet, there’s an exercise regimen that corresponds to your blood type.

It works as far as it goes. I have been on it for a couple of years, but find that the information about what to eat for my blood type is incomplete and the information is not readily available. You need to use common sense as far as how strictly to follow it. It confirmed what I know about myself from previous experience so there must be a basis that is sound. I don't think it is the whole story however.

SCAM ALL THE WAY, STAY AWAY. Look it up on wikipedia, they'll tell you. The forum is full of scammers and dumb followers. They all get you sick and try to make you buy more. Dr. D'ADAMO is one sick person!!!

Excellent plan for dealing with disease. D'adamo's new book, The Genotype Diet, addresses weight loss more specifically.

Works better than any other diet that I have tried. I started it 7 years ago because of health problems. In that time I have tried other diets, but always return since I get sick on the other diets and I do not like being sick.

This isn't a diet! It's a lifestyle change for great health. I've been overweight all my life and the only way I ever lost weight was to exercise 2 hours a day and hurt my body. I couldn't even kneel down without major pain. I tried this "diet". What a difference. Eating whatever I want that I'm allowed for my type I loose about a pound every week or two without trying. It's easy! No injuring exercise. I walk and bike ride when weather permits. Then I loose more! The best thing is my joints don't hurt! I can do anything now with no pain!

This diet isn't necessarily about weight loss. Both my sisters swear by it today, they have been on the diet for a year. Up until they both started this diet, they were in and out of the doctor. One was on Nexium for acid reflux, and the other was soon to be. When they were prescribed the purple pill, they were told they would never get off. Today both haven't any heartburn or acid reflux problems, and they have only needed to go to the doctor for the usual checkups and things. This diet is strict for both, but they live by it today, and because of their success, the rest of our family is taking thier lead and following. Even some of their friends have followed. The only really big problem with this diet is that some of the foods are hard to come by unless you have a Whole Foods or the likes near by. Kroger isn't so good at carrying some of the types of products these diets recommend.

I have. It worked better for me than South Beach. I lost about 20lbs. Ive always had a lot of food sensitivities and reading the book made sense for a lot of those. I've always had trouble with diets because of my sensitivities. I can't eat a lot of grains, milk, soy, etc. So it helped me find a way to eat well and feel much healthier.
