About Me:

Will be 56 in July 2012. Have ajob that I love but is highly stressful. My partner and I will have been together 20 years in December, and we are the poud parents of a German Shepherd, a Dachshund, and four rescue kitties including a peek-faced himalayan who is trying to take charge. This large menagerie in a townhouse is actually ruled by our mustache parakeet. Between us, Caroline and I have lost over 150 pounds. I love to read, paint, draw and play the guitar. I am so happy that I normally walk around with a silly grin on my face.

The goals I'm working toward:

  • Maintain my weight loss
  • Recuperating from surgery so that I can use more of the gym
  • Getting an even greater understanding of my food addiction.

I haven't felt comfortable with my weight since:

I last was a reasonable weight in 1992' and am there again.

My favorite healthy food:

Miracles can be wrought with judicious substitutions of eggbeaters and fat-free half and half. Favorite frost are also shellfish and filet mignon.

My guiltiest pleasure:

There are a couple of desserts at restaurants here that I just have to have. Fortunately they are only available seasonally!

I'm inspired to live a healthy life because:

My dad and my father in law both died in their early seventies. I hope to be healthy enough to combat any illnesses that hit me in the next few decades. I have already seen results. I no longer need treatment for sleep apnea and I no longer have high blood pressure. Plus we're ging to Orlando this summer and I want to be able to walk around Disney and Universal a lot!

Healthy habits that work for me:

  • Track every bite that goes in my mouth, especially bad choices
  • Finding non-food rewards like saving out the money we would spend eating out on a massage or a weekend getaway.
  • Keeping lots of fruit and other healthy foods in the house

My favorite activity at the gym is:

Water kick-boxing--it is a great workout and I can uppercut and jab the miserable unhappy people in my life (or at least pretend).

The accomplishments I'm most proud of:

  • I have a law degree and though I don't practice law I have mad skills in writing research and negotiations due to my training.
  • I have been in a loving stable relationship for almost 20 years
  • God has graced me with a sincere desire to help others and do no harm
