When you exercise you burn calories as your body needs energy to be able to perform efficiently. Our goal is not to burn valuable muscle as the more muscle mass you have on your body the higher your metabolism is and the less body fat. You may have heard the phrase when people are exercising intensively “my muscles are burning.” What happens is that they feel their muscle burn from the build up of lactic acid that inhibits the muscle to move, resulting in a burning sensation.
