You Are Your Own Gym

The bible of bodyweight exercises for men and women.

BACKGROUND Start the Diet Now Advertisement

Providing the only exercise equipment anyone will ever need again, this guide presents to the public, for the first time, the most elite Special Operations fitness exercises to fit their schedule and their wallet.

The You Are Your Own Gym program requires no gym or weights - only the human body.

For thousands of years, from Ancient Greece’s Olympic athletes to tomorrow’s U.S. Special Forces, humanity’s greatest physical specimens have not relied on fitness centers or dumbbells, but have rather utilized their own bodies as the most advanced fitness machines ever created.

These 107 exercises are presented in a clear, concise, and complete manner for men and women of all athletic ability levels.

PRO
  • Can be performed by both men and women
  • Exercises contain clear instructions
  • No other exercise equipment is needed
  • Won't bulk up because strength used is your own, not an external source
  • Can be done at home
  • Accessible to all levels of fitness
CON
  • Does not have a cardio component
  • Without a cardio component, weight loss will be difficult, particularly for those with more than 10 pounds to lose
DIET and NUTRITION

There is no diet or nutrition information provided, but it is promised that as you do these workouts, you will be able to eat more, much in part due to the development of lean muscle mass, which burns more calories than fat tissue.

EXERCISE

Each of the workout routines in the You Are Your Own Gym book are 10-week programs.

You are expected to do the workouts three to five days a week, depending upon the routine. Each of the 10-week programs are clearly organized, telling which exercises to do on what days, how many repetitions to do and how to perform the exercises safely and correctly.

In general, the workouts are created along the interval-based system of training where you alternate high intensity exercises with lower intensity exercises.

In addition, rather than using gym equipment, you rely solely on your body weight as well as common household items like stable chairs, bookshelves and phone books to perform all of the routines.

No cardio is recommended.

CONCLUSION

You Are Your Own Gym is a comprehensive and thorough at-home exercise guide that keeps your budget and your body in tip-top shape.

Created by Mark Lauren, this formidable fitness guide offers scores of routines that can be done at home and without the use of any gym equipment. Using your own body as quite literally, your own gym, you progress through a series of routines that are designed to improve strength and stamina without bulking you up.

Really i have grab the copy and it has a nutrition chapter which is really helpful..
Cardio is not put inside the book because the routine is a circuit and interval type which is far better than long slow boring and non-effective CARDIO. Cardio is really BAD (you can find the information by yourself easily)

This looks SO GOOD! My own body as a way to exercise, nothing else required...REALLY want to find out more about this...telephone books as weights, etc seems like such a practical, easy way to go, and get great results.
