The Hills Diet

Audrina Patridge and Lauren Conrad prove healthy diet and regular exercise are key to weight loss.

BACKGROUND Start the Diet Now Advertisement

From the looks of it, it would appear as if the girls from The Hills have it all: beauty, money, fame and a great body. But rather than leading us to believe that they can eat whatever they want and still have a bikini-ready bod for the camera, stars like Lauren Conrad and Audrina Patridge admit to having the same body insecurities as we all do.

Conrad lost 10 pounds on this diet while her other co-star and co-dieter Patridge loves having a workout buddy.

With the added pressure of being on camera and constantly being snapped by paparazzi, The Hills girls stick to a disciplined exercise and diet plan that focuses on power foods and circuit training exercise six to seven days a week.

PRO
  • No gimmicks or magic pills
  • Encourages healthy eating and consistent exercise
  • Includes one cheat day per week
CON
  • May be too strict for some
DIET and NUTRITION

The Hills Diet focuses on clean food while shunning most carbs like sugar, bread, pasta and rice. The diet involves eating three meals a day and three snacks, which totals about 1,500 calories.

Here’s what a typical day’s worth of food looks like: breakfast consists of whole wheat toast and peanut butter, lunch is usually a protein shake, dinner is fish or another lean protein paired with steamed veggies like broccoli, and snacks consist of almonds and apples.

Organics are very important, as Lauren and Audrina try to only eat foods grown organically. They stay away from meat, but do consume a lot of fish.

EXERCISE

The Hills girls exercise on most days of the week, sometimes in the presence of a trainer and sometimes on their own. Three days a week they focus on circuit training infused with strength training like lunges, squats, push-ups and free weights. On the other days of the week, they focus on cardiovascular work like hiking, running or kickboxing.

They try to do a different workout each time to avoid boredom and monotony.

CONCLUSION

We all want to know the secrets of how Hollywood’s leanest beauties manage to stay so fit. For the girls from the Hills, there is no secret or magic diet pills. Their great physiques come from a low-cal and low-carb eating plan and a consistent and challenging exercise routine.
