DIET and NUTRITION

TextWeight does not lay out a comprehensive diet strategy, nor does it forbid particular food groups. Instead, textWeight suggests strategies to help you eat less junk food, and more fresh fruits and vegetables. You can use these tips to making small changes over time. You can request tips to help you overcome challenges such as "Frequently Dining Out," "Eating When Not Hungry," "Eating Wrong Foods" or "Eating Too Much."

Here are some sample messages for people who requested tips about "Eating Wrong Foods":

  • "Before selecting a meal or snack, ask yourself-how will I feel about my choice tomorrow? Will I really miss it if I don't have it?"

  • "Many Snack are available with reduced or no salt, try to substitute these when possible."

  • "List those foods & snacks that create problems for you & make a similar list of healthy substitutes to purchase next time you shop."

  • "Check out the local Farmers Marker. Pick up some healthy produce & try some fruits & vegetables that are new to you."

EXERCISE

Like the diet plan, textWeight does not provide a structured workout plan. They do provide users with strategies to help them not only exercise more, but to generally be more physically active if you identify exercise as a challenge you need to overcome.

Here are some sample messages for people who said their weight loss challenge is that they "Don't Exercise Enough":

  • "Exercise can burn calories & suppress hunger- be sure to drink plenty of fluids and choose post workout meals wisely"

  • "Exercising today? Take the stairs, park far away from the building, walk or bike instead of driving or taking the bus or train"

  • "Find an exercise partner who enjoys similar activities-create a friendly competition and push each other to participate regularly"

  • "Exercise can relieve stress, burn calories and help curb your appetite all supporting your personal goal!"

CONCLUSION

Naturally, the information you receive from textWeight arrives in short messages. If you're looking for a structured, comprehensive plan that tells you what to eat and when, you will want to supplement textWeight with another diet plan.

TextWeight is an ideal fit for someone who has a pretty clear idea of the diet and exercise they need to do to lose weight, but may need reminders and motivational tips. It's also a super easy way to see your progress, because the service keeps a log of your weigh-ins for you.

I've been using TextWeight for about a month now, and love it. It makes it easy for me to remember to weigh myself, and since I know I'll be doing it every day, I always try to "beat" my previous day's score. The customized tips are great too - a lot of things I wouldn't have otherwise thought about.

I have been using TextWeight for a few months now and find it very helpful as a weight loss tool. I use it in conjunction with my diet plan. I do not understand that one of the "cons" listed was that the suggestions I receive from TextWeight are to "recruit" my friends to join....in my opinion that's absurd. All research shows that to loose and maintain weight lose you should involve your family and friends for support, and that is what the suggestions do

This is great! I'm lost without the calendar reminders on my phone. Now, I can keep on track with my diet and exercise too! I like bragging about my progress and sharing my "badges" on facebook as well.

Simple, convenient, and it keeps me organized. I can't believe nobody thought of this before.
