Skechers Shape-ups

Walk your way to more toned leg muscles and better posture.

BACKGROUND Start the Diet Now Advertisement

Get in shape just by putting on a pair of shoes? That is the promise from Skecher's, maker of the Skecher's Shape Ups, a rocker shoe that helps tone your muscles while you walk.

Shape-ups feature a unique soft kinetic wedge insert and dynamic rolling bottom to simulate walking on soft sand. With the comfort of Shape-ups, you will feel your heel sink to the ground as you step, roll forward as your weight shifts to its center, and push off with your toes. This movement will result in stronger legs, buttocks, back and abdominal muscles as you stabilize your steps.

EXERCISE

Skecher's Shape-ups are a kind of rocker shoe that were originally created to help those with specific foot problems. Rocker shoes are heavily-cushioned shoes with a curved or rocking sole that forces you to work harder to maintain your balance and posture while the shoe takes pressure off the forefoot. The result is less force placed on the hip and knee joints as well as on lumbar spine while also forcing the deep muscles in the legs and buttocks to work harder.

Due to this unconventional manner of walking, it is suggested that you moderate your walking routine in Shape-ups for the first week or two (25 to 45 minutes per day), depending on your level of fitness. As you continue to wear your Shape-ups, your body will adjust to this new method of walking. You will find it easy and comfortable while still enjoying its strengthening cardiovascular benefits.

They can also be worn by someone who stands a lot for their job, like teachers, retail workers or restaurant service workers, but they are not recommended for those who do a lot of heavy lifting or bending up and down in their work due to the unstable nature of the shoe.

Skecher's Shape-ups come in a variety of styles and colors but all Shape-ups shoes share the same midsole and outsole, so they should fit and feel the same.

CONCLUSION

Skecher's Shape-ups are a popular kind of shoe that provides your leg muscles with a mini workout as you wear them. The shoes, which can be worn while walking or standing, have been clinically shown to improve leg strength and circulation.

Just make sure you don't wear them while exercising and if you have specific foot problems, check with your podiatrist first to see if Skecher's Shape-ups are the safest shoe for you.

Like the shoe, but I don't think it did anything fitness wise.

I just got mine, and they feel very comfortable. I'm not sure if they will make a difference though.

While I really like my Shape Ups I don't think they've done a thing for my legs and butt. However, they have improved my posture and they're extremely comfortable.

I have had these for a week now and while it is really too soon to notice significant wieght loss, I do feel it in my legs more when I walk. The biggest bonus for these shoes is that they are so very comfortable. I have bone spurs in my foot and that has made exercise painful but in these I can be on my feet all day long and barely feel the pain. Totally worth the price!
