Also called The Swedish Diet, this one-week detox promotes weight loss without fasting.

BACKGROUND Start the Diet Now Advertisement

The One Week Diet, also known as The Swedish Diet, is a dietary meal replacement based program from the UK that is also available in the US.

One Week Diet System contains a synergistic blend of over 30 life-enhancing plant and fruit extracts, amino-acids, vitamins & minerals for intense cellular nutrition. By following the program you will find yourself in overall better health, better shape and with more energy.

It comes with a step-by-step guide that provides recipes and advice on meals and exercise. The website makes the claim that you lose between three and seven pounds per week.

Those trying the One Week Diet System for the first time can get a 10% discount on their order. When following the program, you simply replace what you would normally have for breakfast with the One Week drink. Discounts are available when you purchase multiple bottles of the product.

PRO
  • Only requires one meal replacement per day rather than multiple meals
  • Discounts available for larger purchases
  • Information on proper nutrition and exercise comes with product
  • Only requires 20 minutes of exercise each day
CON
  • Likely to regain weight once the diet is no longer followed
  • Meal-replacement diets have been shown to lead to weight regain and binges on forbidden foods
  • Weight loss claims are exaggerated
  • Just because product claims to be natural, it may still not be safe

ADMINISTRATION

Replace your daily breakfast with a serving of One Week Diet System juice. Have two glasses of the juice at breakfast and regular nutritional meals for lunch and dinner. Also incorporate at least 20 minutes of exercise activity daily.

DIET and EXERCISE

For your diet, you would supplement the juice for breakfast. Lunch and dinner meals are meals that you choose and prepare. Recommendations and recipes are given with the product for meal ideas.

Exercise should be at least 20 minutes of the activity of your choice daily.

CONCLUSION

Supplementing meals is one way to lose weight. Fortunately One Week Diet System only requires that you supplement one meal per day so you don’t have to worry about going hungry.

The overall approach of this product is that you are reducing your caloric intake by supplementing breakfast. You are also incorporating exercise. Eating more nutritious foods while reducing calories and adding in exercise is the proper recipe for losing weight safely.

Meal-replacement diets or any kind of extreme diets have not shown to be effective strategies for losing weight and keeping it off. So even if you need to slim down quickly, your best bet is to eat plenty of low-calorie foods and exercise often.

I have been using Swedish Diet for 2 1/2 weeks and have lost about 11 pounds so far. The statements in Diets in Review should be corrected to say that it is taken twice a day for weight loss -- once in place of breakfast and a second time in the afternoon. The recommended eating schedule calls for small intakes of food about every 2 hours. I find that the synergistic blend of juices and herbal extracts plus the agave fiber make it easier to eat smaller portions for both meals and snacks. I also find it easier to make better food choices. They recommend continuing to use it once a day for weight maintenance after reaching goal weight. It works out to about $4 per serving retail for weight loss, so that's $2 per serving for weight maintenance.
