DIET and NUTRITION

Although this book is titled The Green Smoothies Diet, you’re not drinking smoothies for each meal everyday. You are simply incorporating green smoothies into your diet to get the health benefits of the proper amount of fruits and vegetables each day.

You can simply have one smoothie per day or decide to have more depending on your dietary choices. There are some recipes contained that include both fruits and vegetables, while others may contain just vegetables for those trying to cut down on sugar. One smoothie that is recommended for those wanting only vegetables is listed as follows:

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 large cucumber
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 2 large leaves collard greens
  • 2 leaves black kale
  • 3 lemons, juiced
  • 1.5 cups water
  • Few slices of Gala apple (optional)
  • Blend all together until smooth; enjoy
EXERCISE

The Green Smoothies Diet is focused mostly on getting the daily recommended amount of nutrients you need from vegetables and fruit. The program does not specifically cover a weight loss regimen through exercise. There are no recommendations for exercise included, although the book suggests that you will have more energy to devote toward being more active once you implement this eating plan.

CONCLUSION

Overall, The Green Smoothies Diet book comes with mixed reviews. Some of the positive feedback shows that people who are doing it have found tremendous benefits in their health and lifestyle. Others have however complained that the book reads like an infomercial for a certain type of blender and that the recipes taste badly.

If you are looking for a way to incorporate more vegetables into your diet, but are afraid you don’t have the time to eat what you should, you might try green smoothies. You can read the book and decide for yourself if you prefer a green drink to a plate full of green vegetables. With the many recipes included in the book, you’re sure to find a couple favorites that will help you get your vegetables in each day.
