Contour Abs Belt

An electronic belt for six-pack abs.

BACKGROUND

Like other electronic stimulator belts, the Contour Abs Belt is designed to help you get sleek and toned abs simply by wearing it.

The Contour belt is a bit older than newer electrical stimulation devices like The Flex Belt. It delivers a series of electrical impulses that cause the muscles in the abdomen to contract. This contraction process, when done over time is supposed to tighten and tone the underlying muscles. The Contour Abs Belt mimics the movements done when performing sit-ups, crunches or other abdominal workouts.

The belt includes gel pads, a diet and exercise guide, a travel backpack and a one-year warranty. It also promotes its own e3 plan, in which the three e's are: eat sensibly, exercise regularly and eStim, the abbreviation that denotes using the Contour Abs Belt.

The product is not as widely sold as other popular electronic abs belt and can only be purchased via the company's, Contour LLC's, website. The product is also FDA-approved.

PRO
  • May help to improve the muscle strength and appearance of abdominal muscles
  • Easy to use and portable
  • FDA approved
  • Comes with a diet and exercise plan
CON
  • Loses out to The Flex Belt in user ratings
  • May cause skin irritation or burns
  • Requires batteries
  • Cannot replace an abdominal workout
DIET and NUTRITION

The Contour Abs Belt comes with a diet and exercise guide that includes tips and information on how to lose weight.

This nutritionally balanced plan is divided into 6-meals per day providing 1,400 calories for women and 1,800 calories for men. By eating small meals, six-times per day your metabolism speeds up because your body “learns” that more food will be on the way, so it will burn off calories instead of storing them and absorbing less cholesterol and fat.

EXERCISE

The Contour Abs Belt can be worn anytime whether you're walking the dog, checking email or making dinner. The idea behind the belt is that it contracts and releases the muscles in your core, through its electrical stimulation technology.

You are instructed to wear the belt ten minutes every day while also adhering to the diet and exercise plan that comes with the product. The intensity of the contraction is based on the level of electrical impulse and the belt can be adjusted to levels 0 to 100. Results may vary, depending on the intensity and amount of time users spend with the belt.

The device requires the use three AAA batteries. You are also encouraged to add some cardio exercise in addition to wearing the Contour Belt.

CONCLUSION

The Contour Abs Belt is a electronic stimulation device that is designed to help tone your abs without the effort of doing hundreds of crunches and sit-ups. The product is commended for its inclusion of a comprehensive diet and exercise plan.

Even though the device is FDA-approved, it still may cause side effects and there is no guarantee that its promises live up to what they claim.

I am big fan of situps but was told that they are not good for you back and you shoudl do plank and crunches and be careful. The electronic stimulation belts might work on building and toning the smaller muscles in the abdominal region. Not 100% sure though. posted May 21st, 2010 12:02 pm

I think this is a total scam. It has been more than 2 months since i ordered it and paid extra for a quick delivery. I am going to have to change my bank account before they steal anymore of my money. I would not recommend this product at all. posted Apr 4th, 2010 6:38 pm
