DIET and NUTRITION

You'll eat about 1,600-1,800 calories each day, depending on your preference and calorie needs. All meal plans represent total calories- you'll just need to appropriately measure servings. Use the online food journal provided at Reach Your Goal to keep track of all of your meals and snacks. You'll be able to eat most things in moderation- seafood is a preferred lean protein and you should limit calorie-packed breads and pasta.

The Reach Your Goal meal plans include recipes, plus low-calorie snacks. If you were following the 8-Pounds goal, your meal plans could look like this:

Breakfast

  • English Muffin, Fruit and Cottage Cheese
  • Egg and Cheese Sandwich with Fruit

Lunch

  • Roasted Chicken and Brie Sandwich
  • Shrimp Avocado Wrap

Dinner

  • Chili and Corn Bread with Salad
  • Grilled Trout with Herbs and Lemon

Low-cal snack recipes are split between 165 calories and 200 calories.

  • Skim chocolate milk with a banana
  • String cheese and a pear
  • White wine with nuts
  • Vanilla ice cream with Nilla Wafers
EXERCISE

SELF recognizes that exercise is not a universal fit. It's recommended that you begin gradually by simply increasing the amount of activity in your day. Gradually progress to more dedicated, intense workouts. Since this is a goal-oriented plan, the routine that you follow will differ for each person, as each routine yields different results.

Reach Your Goal provides you precise exercise instruction, complete with MP3 instruction or video. Receive schedules and track your efforts within your personal profile.

CONCLUSION

SELF Reach Your Goal is a simple and fun way to get expert advice, tailored plans to your specific needs and stay motivated to reach those goals. SELF Magazine offers several diet and exercise programs - this appears to be the only one available without a fee. SELF did not make the site less appealing or valuable due to it's free status. People rave about the smart, simple, successful program.

Reach Your Goal is very easy to use, and the Food Diary is helpful, with the ability to create 'custom' entries of foods you eat frequently.

Self reach your goal is a more stringent plan, but with flexibility. This plan has the approach that you've got a goal to reach, and helps you get there.
