Life Support Diet

Should you go on Life Support with Hoodia Gordonii?

BACKGROUND Start the Diet Now Advertisement

Life Support Herbal is a capsule form of Hoodia Gordonii, the South African cactus extract from the Kalahari Desert that is sweeping the weight loss nation off its feet. Hoodia works as a neurotransmitter, and acts on the same receptors that register glucose levels in the bloodstream. When sufficient glucose levels are perceived, the brain tells the body, “I’m full,” and the need for food temporarily ceases.

Hoodia is now available in capsule, tablet and liquid concentrate form. It is known to be all natural; however, it should be noted that only “stem sourced” hoodia, and not root or flower extract, will have the appetite suppressant effect one would hope for.

PRO
  • Hoodia is all natural and free of side effects
  • Some users of Hoodia claim to have an enhanced sense of well-being
  • Life Support offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee
  • Natural appetite suppressant
  • Contains only Hoodia
CON
  • Must be taken regularly for product to work over time
  • Does not provide a maintenance plan
  • Does not promote exercise
  • Does not provide food and diet guidance
  • No FDA approval
DIET and NUTRITION

Life Support Herbal does not offer a meal or menu program.

EXERCISE

None recommended by Life Support. Fans of Hoodia have said in online testimonials that Hoodia has taken away their desire to eat completely, including Leslie Stahl of 60 minutes fame, so for a very active individual; caution should be taken so as to not compromise organ function due to activity combined with malnutrition.

INGREDIENTS

Most experts recommend a concentration of 750mg or more of Hoodia for efficacy. Life Support contains 500mg of pure Hoodia per capsule. The manufacturers have done a good job of producing a “stand alone” Hoodia, which is rumored to be more effective than those Hoodia supplements that are combined with other ingredients.

Life Support claims to be ‘certified’ Hoodia, but no additional banners or links to said certification is included. In addition, Life Support does not indicate if they are packaging “stem” Hoodia or “root” hoodia. Experts assert that only stem hoodia is effective, and integrity producers will specify the “stem”.

The Hoodia buyer is becoming more savvy thanks to the plethora of information available online. Hoodia manufacturers should realize that an intelligent buyer is going to look for the certification emblem from C.I.T.I.E.S., the South African regulatory agency for Hoodia.

CONCLUSION

Hoodia and Life Support are not currently regulated nor is the potency required to be certified. A savvy shopper should look for prominent placement of “Certified Hoodia” symbols above and beyond the “certified” claims, especially when purchasing on line. In independent studies, Hoodia purchased from online sources were, across the board, found to be less effective due to lack of regulation. In addition, the production of Hoodia is very limited and time-consuming, and so one should be prepared to pay top dollar for quality. The buyer must use due-diligence to make sure that they are getting the maximum potency in order for the Hoodia to be effective.

If its not FDA approved im not sure if i'd want to give this a go, especially considering the other comments. I just try to take some natural detox products when i can. That seems to work for me.
