Detox Body Wrap

Wrap your body and lose inches around your waist. Supposedly.

BACKGROUND

Celebrities have brought detox programs to light recently, making it not only seem like a trendy way to lose weight but also a healthy and fast method. Detox Body Wrap is one product that will allow you to experience the benefits of detoxifying your body, at an affordable cost and in the comfort of your own home. The Detox Body Wrap makes a lofty claim that you'll experience instant weight loss and lose up to six inches in less than an hour.

Detox Body Wrap has natural sea clay that you apply to your body and wrap in the large bandages provided. This will draw out the toxins in your pores and fat cells.

PRO

It's true that removing toxins from your body can aid in weight loss efforts and promote better health. Detox Body Wrap claims to be clinically tested, although this information is not presented on the website.

  • Benefits common problem areas
  • Detox programs offer many benefits
  • Claims immediate results
CON
  • There is not any mention or recommendation for healthy diet and exercise.
INGREDIENTS

The only ingredient mentioned is Natural Sea Clay. The company does not go into detail about anything else. There are not any accompanying supplements.

DIET and NUTRITION

Detox Body Wrap does not make any mention about diet or certain foods you should avoid or incorporate. It does suggest that drinking plenty of water will help yield results.

EXERCISE

Detox Body Wrap does not promote or recommend any exercise regimen.

CONCLUSION

There are definitely benefits to doing a detox program. Detox Body Wrap says you'll lose inches, have clearer skin, reduce cellulite and stretch marks and tone skin. Many of these benefits are likely true, although the loss of six inches in one hour is a hard pill to swallow- and the product does not provide enough information to support this claim. The cost is relatively affordable, when you compare similar treatments at a spa. Without the inclusion of a healthy diet or regular exercise, it seems likely the results would not last.

True, Body Wraps are not for weight loss - they are for inch loss. And let me tell you, they do work! If you just want to look great for a certain event, date, etc. then one wrap will do. But if you want to make a "body change", then you need to do a series of wraps - say 6 to 10 wraps. I would suggest you do them 3 or 4 times a week. When you get to where you want to be, then you can do "maintenance wraps" once or twice a month, until you reach a point where you do not have do them but only on rare occasion. In order to do these wraps, you will need to purchase your own at-home body wrap kit. They are simple to do with a little practice. There are many great body wrap sites to choose from on the internet, but I suggest:
www.bodybeautifulbodywraps.com
You will get more product for your money, and goodness knows in these times a person needs to get value for their money! posted Oct 19th, 2008 1:52 pm

Generally speaking, the weight loss from wraps (if there is any) is because you are wrapped in something warm and kept warm for an hour without drinking anything. You're just sweating out water weight. It can make your skin softer and make you a touch more svelte for a few hours, but it isn't at all permanent. Once you drink water, you stop being dehydrated, and boom, weight comes back. Also, dehydration can increase your apparent cellulite, so while this might be great for squeezing into the sexy little cocktail dress, don't even think about doing a wrap to look good in your bikini (unless you've done it before and had no problems with increased cellulite). It's a nice pampering treatment, but it really won't provide any weight loss benefits, just softer skin and a more relaxed body. posted Aug 20th, 2008 5:10 pm

the body wrap at the spa is bogus and it only makes you think the miracle is happening. I actually gained a pound and saw no inch loss in the areas she measured. Then I was told it was my fault I was minerally depleted. -Wow fat and minerally depleted didn't compute for me. This was at suddenly slimmer in La Jolla with the ceiling falling in. But the people were nice and didn't offer me the free second wrap as advertised for not losing the inches. 266+ down the drain. Oh well I tried a lil something for me. posted Apr 28th, 2008 8:31 am

OK I was very sceptical. I ordered the Detox wrap and continued to read up on wraps. I found a recipe using Salt, green tea and aloe vera gel. While waiting for my order I did a "homemade recipe" wrap. The next day I received the Hollywood Detox wrap. Below are the results of both. I have been dieting with a steady loss of 1 or 2 lbs a week but my skin was getting very, very loose. Pre wrap totals - 286.5 inches Wrap #1 (Salt) - 283.5 inches Wrap #2 (Detox) - 272.5 inches 2 days after (no wrap)- 269 inches As m said it is one or so inches off several areas. I measured the following - Upper chest Lower chest Waist Hips Thighs Calves I don't know how well it would work on someone who is pretty solid already, but I am a believer for tightening sagging skin. 5 star product. posted Mar 23rd, 2008 6:53 pm

i did one a few years ago, but they told me that it's only temporary and you have to keep coming back like a tanning salon. :( Also, it's not literally 6 inches, it's one or so inches off several areas. posted Mar 12th, 2008 9:18 pm

I figured it out at my 2nd wrap. When they measure you before the wrap, the assistant's fingers are UNDER the tape measure giving the illusion that you are an inch (at least) bigger than you actually are. Then, of course, after the magic wrap, the tape measure is pulled as tightly as it can be without looking tight so that you can 'see' the lost inches!!!! Once you add up the inches from thigh, hips, waist, bust and upper arms - you can see how the numbers stack up. It does leave you with soft skin, but a weight loss aid it ain't!!!!
