Ayds Diet Candy

Diet gimmicks aren't anything new. Ayds Candy was a fad diet product that enjoyed popularity in the 1970s and 1980s. Originally the candy used benzocaine, to reduce the user's sense of taste, presumably leading him or her to eat less. By the late 1980s, however, sales of the candy dropped due similarity of the product's name to AIDS.
