Kirstie Alley's Diet Story on Oprah

Weight Loss Show Stoppers on Oprah

Total Weight Loss: 75 – 80 pounds gained and lost repeatedly

Current Weight: Somewhere between 160 and 200 pounds

More recognized for her weight loss ups and downs than her Cheers character, Rebecca Howe, Kirstie Alley’s public battle with her weight is about as widely known as Oprah’s weight struggles. In 2004, Kirstie told Oprah that she would be the official spokesperson for Jenny Craig. For two years, she munched away on Jenny Craig pre-made meals and then graced Oprah’s stage, 75 pounds lighter in a burgundy bikini. The image of Kirstie strutting her svelte physique on the show’s runway inspired thousands of others to lose weight.

Then Kirstie slacked off the disciplined eating and exercise habits when she was no longer the spokesperson for the weight loss giant. With the lack of accountability, she gained back the weight she lost, plus a few extra pounds over the course of two-and-a-half years.

In 2010, she re-appeared on Oprah and openly discussed why and how she fell off the dieting wagon. She also announced her own diet program, Organic Liaison, the first USDA organic certified weight loss program, and her A&E show My Big Life, which chronicles her life in Los Angeles and Wichita with her kids and her continuing weight loss saga.
