Use this vanilla syrup to flavor fruit, yogurt, smoothies, coffee, tea and soda water.
1 vanilla bean
2 cups water
2 cups sugar
Split vanilla bean in half lengthwise and scrape the seeds out of it. Place the seeds and pod into a pan and add the water and sugar. Bring to a boil then remove from fire. Stir well and allow to stand until cool. Strain into a jar or bottle and keep refrigerated until ready to use. Do not discard the bean or seeds - pat them dry and add them to your sugar cannister to impart a nice flavor/aroma to your sugar.
Use this syrup sparingly to flavor coffee, tea and fresh fruit. Makes about 1 pint.
