Swiss Steak
A traditional family classic!
Yield: Serves 4 (3 ounces per serving)
Ingredients
- 1 lb. round steak
- 2 tsp. vinegar
- Seasonings to taste
- 2 med. onions, sliced
- 1/2 c. celery, diced
Instructions
- Trim round steak and portion into 4 equal parts
- Pound to break down tissue
- Sear meat on both sides
- Cover with water, add vinegar, onion, celery, and seasonings
- Continue cooking in oven or on stove until tender
- Two cups tomato juice may be used in place of water
