Why doesn't the Weight Watchers web site WORK??

EKerrigan asked this question May 22nd, 2011 8:57 am

I just signed up for Weight Watchers, and would LOVE to be able to use the Online Tools/Tracker ... but unfortunately the web site is so hideously slow that it's worthless :-( On the rare occasion that I CAN get to the Tracker tool and enter a food, it just spins and spins and spins .... and eventually I get a "timed out" message. Unless/until they upgrade their web site this is completely WORTHLESS! The online access was free with my membership, but I'd be royally peeved if I had actually paid for this!

I'm signed up for the on-line program and have used the on-line tool just fine. If you have a slow internet connection, you'll have trouble loading anything on their website. This is especially true for dial-up or weak wi-fi. But with broadband, you should be fine.

Lily, I have a high-speed Internet connection at home and at work, have tried using the web site on three different computers and four different browsers ... and the result is the same. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. There are tons of web posts dating back two years on this issue, and apparently it's no closer to being fixed :-/

I've been lucky lately, since I've been able to get on MOST of the time at work and at home. But it seems to be completely random.

I'm afraid that that isn't a Weight Watchers web sight problem. People who create websites and then put them on the internet. However slow or fast it loads would be your computer's issue and possibly your browser. Before, you get angry and trash it for others make sure you know what yu are talking about please. Don't mean to be rude or bossy so I'm sorry if I came across that way but it is the truth. :)

Marissa, it IS a WW website problem: There are people all over the world having the same issues -- if you Google something like "Weight Watchers web site access issues," you'll find thousands of posts on this problem. Also, after the first month, the problem seemed to suddenly vanish for me, without me having changed anything about my computers, browers, etc. It occasionally gives me trouble, but not often anymore ... so if I didn't change anything on my end, I'll have to assume that WWW did. Maybe enough people complained about it :-)

Oh, also, it didn't have anything to do with slow loading -- sometimes it wouldn't load at ALL, sometimes it would get stuck in a "loop" where the log-in page went back to the home page which went back to the log-in page which went back to the home page, etc., etc.

I've been working on computers since the early '80s, so I know my way around them pretty well :-)
