Vintage Weight Loss Secrets

Many people today talk about how "big" Marilyn Monroe was and how she was a shapely, curvy overweight woman. Though this seems to be the common opinion, how true is it? Her height was 5 foot 5 1/2 inches and her weight usually stayed between 115 to 120 pounds. Comparing that to the body mass index (BMI) she would have a score of 20, which falls into the lower end of the healthy weight category. Even at her heaviest weight of 140 pounds during her marriage to Arthur Miller, her BMI would be 23.3, which is still considered a healthy weight. To ever have been considered overweight, she would have needed to weigh at least 150 pounds. Regardless of what her weight was, she was a woman ahead of her time when it came to exercising. To supplement her health, she would include jogging and small weights; something not common for women back then. Her diet also looks similar to today's high protein, low carb diets. She ate lots of steak (sometimes even for breakfast), eggs, liver juice, grapefruit and some greens. When she needed to temporarily lose weight quickly she would get a colonic.
