No, you don't need to have your eyes examined. This really is called the McDonald's Diet, named for the fast-food giant who put french fries and cheeseburgers on the international map. The diet did not come out of one of their test kitchens, but rather the mind of Merab Morgan of North Carolina.

Restricting herself to only 1,400 calories/day, her plan was to eat at Mickey D's three times every day. Over the course of her three-month diet, Morgan lost a little more than 30 pounds.

Do You Know the Best Diet Shakes of 2017?

  • Shows you that in moderation, anything is possible
  • Sheds a positive light on McDonald's image
  • Eating McDonald's every day
  • Expensive
  • Regular diet of fast food proven to have detrimental health effects

You're probably asking what someone eats on a McDonald's Diet for only 1,400 calories/day. Especially when you consider this - one meal including a Quarter Pounder with cheese, medium fries, medium Coke and an apple pie is a whopping 1,240 calories!

Morgan's diet included a sausage burrito and medium Diet Coke (300 calories, all from the burrito) for breakfast. The rest of the time it was cheeseburgers (300 calories each) and salads (a Southwest Salad with Grilled Chicken has 320 calories).

Morgan's McDonald's Diet was certainly not the first. A New Hampshire woman gave herself a 2,000 calorie McDonald's diet and lost more than 35 pounds. Guinness Book of World Records features Don Gorske, the famed gentleman who has eaten well beyond 19,000 Big Macs since the early '70s. Don's a slender 6', 180 pounds.

However, let's not forget Morgan Spurlock who filmed a 2004 documentary following him on his 30-day, McDonald's-only adventure. We watched his belly expand and health climb to dangerously high blood pressure, cholesterol and other life-threatening illnesses.

While limiting yourself to a healthy daily caloric intake is advisable, you would be strongly encouraged to speak with your doctor before pursuing a McDonald's Diet. Then be prepared for a scolding.

While it's possible to stick to a diet by picking healthier options from a fast food menu, all the money you spend at McDonald's could be taken to a grocery store to buy fresh fruits, veggies, and lean meats. I don't see myself doing this at all because it doesn't seem to have a real point.

hey....it works.....i know a couple that both lost over 50 lbs in a 5 month period.
i decided to try it and so far have lost 14 lbs in a little over 3 weeks.
and by the way, you CAN eat healthy at mcd's.......just look at the menu. there is something for everyone.
it's not mcdonalds that is making people fat, it is their poor food choices!!!!!

Oh my lord! Are you serious? That is by far the stupidest diet I have ever heard of. I am a food specialist and just happen to know that some people may think McDonalds is tempting but do you people realize that you could loose WAY more weight by choosing a diet that involves exercise daily, and consists of the "food Pyrimid." obvoiusly McDonnalds has none of those qualities. how do you even know where the meat comes from or how they make it. when i went there to try this diet. I couldn't even last one day. i litterally puked as the man at the drivethru handed me this filthy food. if i could, i would shut down half of the Mcdonnalds in the world. this is the exact fast food restaurant that has been causind millions of children to be over weight and insecure of them selves. how are they suposed to get a date if they are over weight standing next to the twiggy cheerleaders (hipethetically). *IF THIS LETTER IS INSULTING IN ANY WAY, PLEASE CONSULT ME EMEDIETLY*

Of course he lost weight on eating salad and apple dippers without caramel sauce. It's not rocket science. He would have lost weight whether he went to McDonald's, Wendy's or made his own salad. Thanks to "Super Size Me" a lot of fast food restaurants added healthier options. Why are we surprised? The things that make the news these days ... Really.

It can be done at almost any resturant. Just avoid all the crap fried foods and dont add dressing and stuff

You guys drive me crazy! If you actually understood what the diet actually is you would understand that burgers are really not part of the diet on a regular basis. The diet includes items like fruit parfets, apple slices, snack wraps (preferably grilled), salads, etc. and if there is a burger its advised without the bun. I'm 19 years old, I don't worry about my weight ususally but I heard about this diet on Good Morning America and decided to read up on it because it made sense. Senior year of highschool I went out to lunch everyday to McDonald's I got a snack wrap and a parfet. I ended up losing weight from changing one meal a day. This diet is no joke..well..I mean there are definatly more serious diets that allow you a little more color. But don't judge people by the diet they choose. They do what works for them, you don't know what type of lifestyle they have and whether they can cook 3 healthy meals a day. Just be smart, watch your calorie intake and work out in some way.

You've gotta be kidding me...This has got to be the most unhealthy diet fad I have ever heard of. Even if you do loose weight, there's no way it could be healthy for you. Why is it that people are always looking for the easiest way out in life? No, don't eat right or exercise, eat a fat burger at mcdonads.
