Mike Morelli’s Biggest Loser Recap – Episode 8.10

It is makeover week on the Biggest Loser! Makeover week is a very fun and exciting time for the contestants, and all of us fans as well. For weeks they have been going through hell to change their lives, but the contestants never really have a chance to get a feel for their new bodies. Makeover week is the first chance that these contestants can really see what they’ve done for themselves. Everyone looked amazing for their makeovers, you can really get a feel for how much weight each contestant lost.

biggest loser challengeThis week, the challenge was one that I do not envy. The losers had to traverse a gorge while sitting on a platform suspended 200 feet in the air. The winner will receive a two-week trip with his family to the Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge. Now that is a prize that should be on the show. Not immunity. Biggest Loser at Fitness Ridge is a very cool experience. Rudy ended up winning the challenge, with Amanda falling just short.

Of course with all the excitement of makeover, not a lot of working out was done it seemed. The last chance workout given by Bob and Jillian seemed absolutely brutal to make up for it.

The beatings seemed to pay of big for Rudy, coming off an immunity week of course, losing 16 pounds, and Amanda losing 9. Liz and Rebecca were below the yellow line and in danger of going home. Rebecca tried her best to fight to stay in the house, but in the end, Rudy cast his vote to send her home.

A slew of arguments erupted that I didn’t follow about trust early in the game. I don’t know, it seemed weird. But since Allen didn’t have to reveal his vote, we assume he also voted to send Rebecca home. Next week looks like it’s going to be an amazing episode so tune in. And if not, I’m always right here giving my sarcastic view of everything. See you next week!

Overall it was not a bad episode, but Season 7's makeover week was much better in my opinion. The "night at the movies" in S7 was a stronger message than the speeches in S8 because the speeches were edited too short to really feel the impact; seems like you had to be there, wereas S7 felt like you were there.

Allen looked really fantastic but everyone else was so-so. Danny still has a lot of weight left left to lose. Amanda doesn't look fat anymore which is awesome for her.

I thought Rudy's sudden shocking reveal of his sister dying when she was 14 was interesting. I don't know why he'd hold such a thing back from Bob and Jill when he was willing to talk openly about it as part of a speech. It does make sense for that to be the catalyst for his weight gain. But he seems over it, or else he'd not be continually dropping huge numbers week after week.

I think this week was a real breakthru for Amanda; seeing her mom at the makeover seemed to be the emotional release she needed to drop huge numbers. 9 pounds when she's already so small is a huge loss.

I honestly don't know what the whole Rudy / Rebecca dynamic was. Rudy does seem to rub people the wrong way even though he seems like a nice guy. I think he could have used more tact and not burned bridges with Rebecca as an excuse to send her home. It would have been more appropriate to lie in this instance and pretend like it was a hard decision than just be brutally honest about not trusting her, that was kind of a mean blow.

I think Liz survived because she is not as big of a threat as Rebecca was.

I was rather surprised to learn that Rebecca and Dan were dating. I guess between this reveal and the Rudy / Rebecca trust issue, the production team really does spin things a certain way and there's a lot of things going on behind the scenes at the ranch that we as viewers don't know about.

Anyway Rebecca does look great, a half marathon is pretty intense.

I think Rudy will win the game and Danny will come in second. Allen looks fit and fantastic, but I think he doesn't have enough weight left to win this thing. That's probably why he is purposefully sabotaging the challenges to try to stay under the radar (which I don't think is working for him actually)

I also was a bit upset that no mention of Orange Team's elimination last week was brought up this week. This week's episode really felt rushed.

I agree with Dominique...I wanted to see Jillian flip out on Rudy about sending Shay home.

I was disappointed in that episode. I wanted to hear the trainer's response to the elimination from the previous week. I wasn't a fan of most of the makeovers. Everyone did look great so that's what counts. I also enjoyed the speeches that were given. That was probably the highlight of the episode. Great work on your review, Mike!
