Jordin Sparks has been known for her curvy body since the sixth season of American Idol. When she was 17 years old, Jordin was a size 14. The singer and actress remembers constantly feeling tired and sick by the time she was 21. Not feeling healthy and energetic was a big concern for her.
“I just wanted to be healthy. I remember thinking, ‘I’m in my prime. I should be happy and fit,'” she said at Huffington Post. That was the moment I decided that changes needed to be made.”
She ditched the naps and slowly started to work off the pounds. Jordin started her weight loss with walks around her neighborhood, then she started hiking, and then joined a gym. There she took Zumba classes because it a fun way to shed the weight. Jordin saw significant weight loss when she revamped her diet. She managed her portions and opted out on sugary snacks and drinks.
The first documentation of Jordin’s weight loss was when she tweeted a picture of herself in a cute two piece swim suit. Jordin’s bikini picture was tweeted around May of 2011 when she was 30 pounds lighter. Her weight loss proved to be a success because the day after the twitter picture she was asked to join the cast of Sparkle.
After a year of hitting the gym and changing her diet, Jordin finally reached her goal of losing 50 pounds. She didn’t want to lose too much weight because she still wanted to keep her curves. Jordin graces this month’s cover of SHAPE magazine showing off her curves and fit figure. Maybe her weight loss story will be an inspiration to others who want to lose weight. Jordin proves that working hard and dieting right will give you the results you want.
