Renee Rouleau Review (UPDATED 2017): Don't Buy Before You Read This!
What is it?
Renee Rouleau Bio Calm Repair Masque is a nightly skin conditioner that is used to reduce redness and increase hydration levels in the skin. Their advertising recommends it for people with rosacea, that have been exposed to direct sunlight, or that have recently undergone a chemical peel or similar treatment. It is designed to help treat skin that is oily, sensitive, red, or prone to breakouts, earning it the nickname from its manufacturers “Valium for the skin.”
Our panel of beauty and wellness experts recommends Kremotex for all daily skin health needs. Their proprietary blend works to increase collagen production and cellular activity while decreasing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Renee Rouleau Ingredients and Side Effects
Renee Rouleau does not publish their full ingredients list. Instead, they highlight only a few of the ingredients that they use, and also list some of the ones that they do not have in their blend. The three chemicals that they actually do mention by name are:
|Oat Kernel Extract
Oat Kernel Extract: Derivatives of the common grain, usually used as a food product, but which are believed by some to have a calming, anti-inflammatory effect on the skin. There is insufficient evidence to claim that oat products definitively have any therapeutic value, but conditions that people have attempted to treat with the topical application of oats include:
Many of these conditions are inflammatory in nature, and some individuals – though not most of the medical establishment – believe that oat products may have anti-inflammatory qualities. Other than that, there are no known skin care functions for oats.
They are generally considered mild in effect and are safe for most people, however some people do react badly to oat products. Redness, breakouts, and mild allergy symptoms are all a possibility for individuals with oat sensitivities.
Bisabolol: A skin-conditioning agent that is derived from the chamomile plant. Chamomilla recutita is frequently used in tea, in food products, perfumes, and may potentially have some therapeutic value.
There is no scientific evidence that topical chamomile is useful for any medicinal purposes, however it has been used in some home remedies to treat:
In skin care chamomile products are used to combat dryness and flakiness, to soothe the skin and relieve inflammation, and it is thought to have some antioxidant properties. None of these are core-level health functions, however they can all be useful for skin care, especially antioxidants.
Antioxidants are useful because they help to prevent the damage caused by free radicals – the atomic structures that are formed by exposure to UV rays, smoke, smog, and other environmental toxins. These microscopic entities destroy cell membranes, which leads to them expanding and becoming irregular in shape.
Tight skin is composed of well-defined, compact cells that are arranged in an orderly, efficient manor. As the cells loose their shape the whole structure is compromised, leading to wrinkling, dull coloration, and increased vulnerability to UV rays.
Chamomile-based products are safe for most people, however people with allergies to flowers in the daisy family have a good chance of experiencing negative reactions to chamomile products as well. There are no long-term studies about the effects of regularly using chamomile products for prolonged time periods.

Renee Rouleau Quality of Ingredients
Renee Rouleau does not offer much information that gives our review team hope that it could be an effective skin care product. The very limited ingredients list that they disclose does not give much reason to believe that it can have much of a positive effect, while the fact that they do not choose to disclose their other ingredients opens up the possibility that some of their additives may have a negative effect on users.
Chamomile and oats are two mild anti-inflammatories that also have some limited antioxidant effects. This may be useful in soothing the irritation caused by some skin conditions, however it is not useful from a skin health or damage prevention standpoint.
Our team prefers to recommend products that affect the skin at a core level, in ways like collagen generation or cellular activity, not just addressing symptomatic or cosmetic concerns. Our team does recommend that whatever skin cream you use it have some antioxidant capabilities, but it also should typically contain basic vitamins and nutrients that help the skin care process rather than just addressing temporary conditions.
This is secondary, however, to the fact that Renee Rouleau does not publish their entire ingredients list. There are too many manufacturers that use low-quality ingredients in their skin care blends to blindly trust that there are no harmful additives in any given blend.
Renee Rouleau does provide a list of some of the additives that they do not use, claiming to be free of:
- Petroleum and mineral oils
This list, however says nothing about paralytic peptides, sodium hydroxide (aka lye) and simple alcohols, all of which are depressingly common ingredients found in skin care blends.
Simple alcohols are especially common as they make a product look highly effective when it is applied thanks to their absorbency-increasing properties that leave skin looking plump and hydrated. Shortly after that, however, they evaporate, which steals more moisture from the skin than the moisturizer provides.
The long-term results of this are skin that is dried out, damaged, and brittle – and that looks older and is more susceptible to wrinkling, sagging, and other unflattering conditions. Unless a skin care product is willing to admit everything that is in there blend consumers can never know how safe or effective any given product actually is.

Customer Opinions of Renee Rouleau
Honest reviews of Renee Rouleau are hard to find as they only allow distribution through their own website, and they only post 5-star reviews there. On independent review sites, however, there are more honest critiques, such as these:
“Not worth the money. No noticeable effects at all.”
“After wearing their masque I woke up with skin drier than it ever has been before.”
“No idea what “Celebrity Stylist” means, but I’m guessing it has something to do with being overpriced and ineffective.”
The most common complaint that customers had was about the product being ineffective, especially in comparison to how much it cost. There were also reports of rude customer service and unpleasant side effects, most frequently dry skin.

Conclusion – Does Renee Rouleau Work?
In our review teams experience, products that rely too heavily on the name of the person selling them, such as the Christy Brinkley skin care line or anything endorsed by Dr. Oz, are doing so to cover deficiencies in their product itself.
Renee Rouleau only discloses two of the ingredients in their Bio Calm Repair Masque, and neither one is capable of improving skin health at the core level, only treating the symptoms after damage has already occurred. They do not list anything else in their blend, which means that our team cannot recommend their product.
Our experts caution all users that trustworthy skin care products manufactures publish their ingredients, and if a company is unwilling to disclose what is in their blend that there is probably a reason for that.
Our team recommends that users try Kremotex’s skin cream. Their product is formulated to be gentle on sensitive skin but powerfully effective at hydrating and conditioning the skin.
Apple stem cells, shea butter and other vitamins and nutrients increase cellular turnover and collagen genesis. This leaves the skin looking healthy and beautiful because it is healthy and beautiful. Follow this link to see Kremotex’s full ingredients panel.
