BACKGROUNDBACKGROUND Start the Diet Now Advertisement

Zumba is a high calorie burning fitness workout that combines easy-to-follow dance steps with Latin beats.

Zumba was created by celebrity personal trainer Alberto “Beto” Perez from Cali, Colombia. The workout is currently offered through books, DVDs and Zumba fitness classes across the country. It uses interval and resistance training along with Latin dance moves to tone and shape your body.

Included with the Zumba program is a 5-Day Express Diet that will jump-start your weight loss. There are also 14 days worth of menus that will help you lose weight in the target areas of the hips, thighs and stomach.

The Zumba DVDs allow you to do the workouts at home right along with those on the screen. The DVDs are available from various retailers, but include a nutrition plan only when ordered directly from the Zumba web site.

The DVD's suck, but the live classes make it fun and easier! I can't dance to save my life, but I like how everyone in the class is all pumped. I just do my best (And probably look like a dork) but I love how great i feel afterwards!

I love the workouts, but the DVDs are poorly made, after only 45 days they started to skip and pause during the workouts. Couldn't get the customer service line to even answer the phone. I sent an email complaint and was told no returns or exchanges after 7 days.

I started zumba about 6 months ago and it really helped me to shed the pounds.
Zumba, along with running helped me lose about 10lbs in a month

I joined a Zumba Class on a whim in mid January and FELL IN LOVE!

At over 400 pounds, even I can keep up with most, not all-but most, of the moves. It's amazing and has helped me lose my first 15 pounds in just one month!!

I go 3 days per week!

I can't believe I'm the first to write about this but Zumba is great!! I have some friends who don't really think its good Latin dancing, but they ALL agree its fun. If you don't think you can keep up or can't do it your wrong. Just like with most dancing its all about having fun. I just ordered the videos and will continue to take the classes at the local gyms because each teacher can make their own dances to the music so you don't get bored. Hope I helped!
