Do You Know the Best Diets of 2024?

BACKGROUNDBACKGROUND

Quick Weight Loss, founded in Florida, provides individualized weight loss therapy. The program boasts no exercise and you eat the foods you love including the diet program's own line of diet foods and herbal and thermogenic supplements.

Made popular by Rush Limbaugh who in 2009 lost a remarkable amount of weight in a short period of time following a Quick Weight Loss created just for him, this southern Florida company has helped many lose weight.

Currently, the only bricks and mortar Quick Weight Loss Centers are scattered around southern Florida but there is an online program that you can join from anywhere in the country. This home-based program is a six-week program in which you receive support and counseling via email and phone from Quick Weight Loss Center specialists.

Once you have signed up for either program, you work individually with a Quick Weight Loss Center expert in order to create your own customized diet plan.

In general, the Quick Weight Loss plan provides participants a diet that is low calorie (up to 1,500 calories/day). You buy the foods you like to make and supplement with Quick Weight Loss brand's bars, beverages, soups as well as supplement s that are intended to facilitate weight loss.

You can expect to lose three to seven pounds each week while following the Quick Weight Loss Center programs.

PROPRO
  • Doctor clearance shows they are being responsible

  • Offers an individualized program to weight loss

  • One-on-one support provides motivation and accountability

CONCON
  • Weight loss claims may be exaggerated
  • Required to buy program's special line of foods increases costs
  • Herbal supplements and other stimulants are required
  • Supplements do not require FDA approval; check with your doctor before taking
  • Brick and mortar locations are limited to southern Florida and Texas
  • Low calorie diet plan may lead to rebound weight gain
  • Diet program rules are not scientifically founded
DIET and NUTRITIONDIET and NUTRITION

While all Quick Weight Loss Center diets are custom-designed, there are a few benchmark features that are applied to every participant's diet.

Most diet plans include a low-calorie and low-fat daily eating plan that is comprised of about 1,500 calories a day.

And while the company remains pretty hush-hush about what their diet looks like, a few secrets slipped through the cracks thanks to Rush's public discussion about his experience with Quick Weight Loss Centers.

There are a host of other food rules that you must abide by while following the program such as eating green peppers but not red bell peppers and not combining two different kinds of proteins in one meal. For instance you can have seven ounces of grilled chicken breast but not three ounces of white fish and four ounces of turkey breast in one meal. In addition, alcohol, sugar, refined flours and fried foods are not allowed.

You can also supplement with Quick Weight Loss Centers proprietary foods which can be purchased online or at one of the Center's Florida locations. Such foods include special puddings, shake mixes, nutrition bars, soups and oatmeal.

In addition, you are also encouraged to take Quick Weight Loss Centers own line of dietary supplements like essential fatty acids, herbs and carb blockers, all of which are supposed to facilitate speedy weight loss.

EXERCISEEXERCISE

You can engage in moderate exercise while following the Quick Weight Loss Center diet but hard-core exercise is not a strong feature of this plan.

CONCLUSIONCONCLUSION

Made popular almost overnight by conservative radio-host Rush Limbaugh who lost 80 pounds in just a few months, Quick Weight Loss Centers is a Florida-based customized diet plan that helps you lose weight quickly with its low-calorie and highly structured eating plan. But it is exactly this stringent plan that lands this diet in the category of countless other plans that take off a lot of weight in a short amount of time and then risks gaining it all back once you are no longer on the plan.

But with this rather mysterious diet plan filled with specific eating rules and special supplements that contain hoodia and ephedra-like stimulants, you might want to think twice about spending the money on Quick Weight Loss Center and instead think about incorporating more natural, practical and long-term strategies for successful weight loss.

I did not have a very good experience with QWLC either. I feel as if I have been taken. They talk very fast, and they always try to convince you to purchase more and more of their products, but I guess they have to do that to stay in business. Every time I have been there, I get a different story about what I should be doing. It's not what I expected at all, and I hate that I wasted my money on it.

I agree with another post-it is a bait and switch. When I went in to find out about the program, I told the QWL staff member that I had not been successful with Weight Watchers because it was too time consuming, I did not want to weigh and measure food, & did not want to keep a journal. WW meets once a week. On QWL, I have been instructed to report to the center three times per week. I have a full time job and a family. The QWL staff member did not directly answer any of my questions. She kept responding with statistics.

The plan she showed me (the first four days on the plan) seemed manageable-no weighing, measuring, & no journal. Just eat anything on the list, plus one orange, drink water, quick boost, and one herb supplement. She did not tell me that after four days I would spend nearly two hours in a class of how the plan works and then everything I had to buy. I thought I have already paid $695 the first day, I have to stick with it. Then I got stuck paying an additional $1720.

I hate this program-probably because I am so angry that they were not completely honest and upfront about their plan until I had paid a car payment and mortgage payment worth to them.

Today I tried the QWL "oatmeal" and "vanilla pudding" supplements. I put them in quotes because there is not oatmeal or vanilla pudding in them. YUCK!

I guess I will just try to eat healthy and stay away from junk food and take the supplements. Even if I do not follow their plan exactly, I will have to lose weight compared to the way I used to eat up until a week ago.

I would not say I do not recommend this plan, I am just saying be careful when you go in to find out about the program because they are high pressure sales. Be willing to tell them that you want to consider what they have told you, take home some documentation to review, whatever. Ask about the TOTAL cost, the future food plans, and ask for details about the "nutrition class". Also, get review the details in writing regarding future commitments and their guarantee. I just do not want anyone to feel as "taken" as I do.

Amazing results. I am following it exactly - using their products, following their eating plan which is easy for me, and I have lost 32 pounds in 5 weeks - more than I have ever lost on any plan in my life. I figured I would follow it exactly just to see how it really worked. And I guess I know now. I am not trying to save a nickel here and there on products they don't recommend and I bought my products in bulk - it comes out to almost 40% off. I have another 68 pounds to go and, at this rate, I'll be in a bikini for summer.

I started the "quick weight loss center diet" January 3rd and I've already lost 21 pounds. (it's Feb 21st) I agree that it gets expensive, but so far it's been worth it. I like to being able to eat the protein supplements. They're like my treats! I wish I was losing more, but I think i'm doing pretty well so far. I have a few tips for those that are also on it--

1. You don't have to take all the pills. The important thing to take are the EFA's because they'll keep your skin tight as you lose the weight. Other than that, I've been told they're not neccessary, but they help. You can also take less than recommended amount of the pills, to make them last longer, except for the EFA's.

2. On the protein supplements, Don't eat the bars on the same day you have the crunchy's snacks, both are high in carbs. Try the drink mixes, they're low in calories but give you the protein.
By the way- if you're taking the carb blockers, take one before eating one of the high carb supplements, they have more carbs that the starches that are allowed. If you take the pills, it's easier if you buy one of those weekly pill cases and take it everywhere you go so you can remember to take them, and you can keep track of how many you've taken or skipped.

3. Try to spread out your protein thoughout the day. Have a protein or protein supp at every snack and meal. You can also half the amount of protein and eat it at 2 different times that day. It keeps you fuller and keeps your metabolism up throughout the day.

4. Make sure you drink at least 80 ounces of water, throughout the day. It will help with digestion. That's another thing, it's important to have regular bowl movements. At least 1-2 times a day. Drink some senna laxative tea, Traditional Medicinals has a good one called "Smooth Move". Also try walking 30 minutes a day to get things moving.

5. Remember to use Morton's Lite Salt. It will help you not retain water.

6. Try your hardest to not cheat. Just remember that feeling thin will feel better than that food or drink tastes. If you do get off track, do a vinager flush with 8 oz. of water and a tablespoon of apple cidar vinager. I haven't need to do it, but my mom's doing it too, and she's cheated. When she does it, she starts losing again.

8. About the cost, they tell you about the specials so you can buy them cheaper. Stock up on pills and supplements when they're on sale, even if you still have some. It'll be cheaper in the long run.

I hope my tips helped some people! I'm excited about this diet, i think pretty much all the staff are friendly and helpful at the 2 QWLC centers go I to (in Houston- Westheimer, and Hwy 6). If you have questions or problems, you should ask them, that's what they're there for. They can also advise you to do a plateau breaker for 2 days to get your metabolism sped up and the weight loss starting again. Good Luck everyone, we can do it!

I think Lana is at a bad center. I have been on the program for 2 weeks and have my b.p. taken every time and have been measured twice. I think you need to talk to the manager of the center you are going to. I have a friend who says your experience is unusual because she has been on it 2 months and things are very different at our center in Georgia.

I do like the diet but it is really expensive. Do you think you have to use all the pills? I just can't spend all of that again. Any ideas

I've been on the program 7 weeks and have lost 13 pounds so far. It's not as fast as promised but it's the most I've been able to lose in years. It's very expensive but if it works I think it will be worth it. I have to lose about 80 pounds.

Like Jewel, I feel like it is a bait and switch. I was informed at the first meeting, (when every one is the nicest in the world) that I would be required to purchase supplements and Quick Boost. I was never told how much they cost! I was told that at the nutrition class that I would receive 20% off of my entire purchase. LIE!!! The only way I could receive the discount was if I spent MORE MONEY on the Platinum program. That was something like $1700.00. Needless to say I was upset and felt sales pressure. I didn't buy the program and had a rough start. I told them I guess I'll go ahead and purchase the requirements considering they had my signature all over the paperwork they had me sign and never gave me a copy of. I was never explained to about how the guarantee works or when to take the quick boost, and have heard conflicting times from various "nurses" or that I wasn't supposed to have two of the bars in one day. (I found out that information 3 weeks later) Every time I go into the office, it is a sales pitch about how much money I can save on their "SPECIALS". I get weighed, but have only had my blood pressure taken 4 out of 9 times. On the website, it says you have to have doctor's approval. ANYWAY! My goal weight is 35 LBs and I was given 12 weeks to lose it. I didn't get to decide how long it would take me, I was told that's how long it should take. I am on my 9th week and have lost 19 LBs. When I went into my office visit, I was told that I wasn't going to make my goal weight and that the guarantee would not be valid unless I purchased more weeks at $45.00 per week. BUT WAIT, there's a special on weeks, if I buy 3 weeks @ $45.00 per wk, I would get an additional 3 weeks free! Does this smell fishy? Yes, it does. And if anyone knows how to get ahold of Corporate, please let me know. I would love to give them an ear full. As well as try and get my money back!

If you stick to the plan it works and yes it is expensive. I lost 67 lbs. in 9 months. Then I stopped following the plan and went back to my old eating habits and gained 30 lbs back in the next 15 months.

This works if you follow their plan. I have lost 28 lbs over the past 14 weeks and am about to start the stabilization phase. I understand I will need to go back on the gold tablets and need to buy them at a discount web site if possible. What is the equivalent to this pill from Diet Direct or some other site? They are over $100 at QWLC. Thanks for any information. I buy all my supplements from Diet Direct.

Pay attention...if you do not driink all the water ( 80oz) a day and eat 3 fruits and 4 Veg 2 cooked 2 raw..You will be constipated and you will not lose..eating 5-7 times a day small items is the key that with the water intake....The more you go #2 the more weight you drop try Slimming tea to boost the process

I was on this diet 3 years ago and it worked well- I didn't follow it to a T and still lost weight. I am curious though if anyone has a copy of the daily schedule you follow??- I can't seem to find mine and I have gained some of the weight back and wanted to go back on the diet but can't afford the fees.

Check out - same bars and shakes at half the price. I am not on QWLC myself but had a few friends who were successful with the diet. After about 4 months they went on their own and continued to lose. Both have kept the weight off for over a year.

I do like the way I'm feeling after 3 weeks but only lost 7 ibs. I drank and ate at a party,so now do I go back to the 3 day detox or cont. on phase one? Not a easy diet for carb lovers and make me very constipated.

Brenda ~ a 1/2 a pound loss is better than a gain! :-)

I too have been disappointed (as you can tell by what I wrote my first week or so) but I have found out a couple of things that might help.

One is that the vitamin they strongly suggest you take has a hefty dose of iron in them. I don't know if you have a problem with it, but I did. The first two weeks I had very little elimination until I took a close look at that and got off the vitamins they sell. That may help.

It has been a real fight for me (I have been in now 4 weeks with what I think is very slow weight loss as compared to quick weight loss. (I am now down about 5 lbs. I wanted that in one week - not four!!!)

The second thing is the timing of the food eaten (really your counselor should be going through this with you. Try to follow their schedule as closely as possible.)

Now a good thing about losing slow - a friend of mine that has done well on another plan (Topps) said that she had the same problem - very slow weight loss. But she said that can be healthier in the long-run because if you lose it slower you have a better chance of keeping it off. I have also read recently that people who lose weight quickly can end up with kidney stones (ouch).

Another negative I have noticed is there is not very good 'peer-support' in this program. How about we encourage each other in this? I know I want to succeed and I think you do too or you wouldn't have shelled out the bucks.
