Wouldn't it be nice to have a personal dietitian to monitor your progress and show you how each meal choice is helping or hurting your efforts to reach your goals? If you have a home computer, then your assistant has arrived. Diet Power is a resource that works with your home computer to guide you on your personal journey - giving you more knowledge than you've ever had before. And that can be the key to success.

Diet Power guarantees that you'll reach your target weight using their computerized diet program. It's simple to use. You'll start by entering your goal weight and date into the program's Goal Setter. You'll then maintain daily entries in the Food Log, recording everything that you consume. This data will transfer to the Calorie Bank, where just like your checking account, staying balanced means you'll reach your goal. The program will also give points for one thousand exercises.

Diet Power also includes a Nutrition Coach to help you learn the more about healthful foods you're eating, and Nutrient History, where you can keep tabs on all of the fat, carbs, proteins and essential vitamins and minerals that come with your meal choices.

The program is conveniently and safely stored on your home computer and you'll be able to access the online community as well as enjoy many other features like the recipe analyzer and nutrition advice and news.

DIET and NUTRITIONDIET and NUTRITION

Diet Power lists 11,000 foods under 21,000 names, and the Food Dictionary will let you add an unlimited number of your own, by entering nutrition facts from labels.

EXERCISEEXERCISE

Diet Power awards extra calories for exercise, which you record by clicking the Exercise Log button. The program knows the burn rates of nearly 1,000 activities, including conventional aerobics (walking, running, bicycling, swimming), competitive sports (tennis, basketball, golf), martial arts (boxing, fencing, karate), exercise machines (stair climbers, exercycles), occupations (bricklaying, carpentry), house- and yard work (mowing, wood chopping, laundry), and more.

Every burn rate is automatically adjusted to your current body weight. A 150-pound runner, for example, won't burn as many calories as a 185-pound runner.

If exercise raises your metabolic rate, Diet Power will notice this and increase your calorie budget accordingly. Similarly, if your workouts slow your weight loss by increasing your muscle mass, the program will decrease your budget to keep your weight on track. (You may want to adjust your goal weight in that case, however. A lean and fit 170-pounder will look better, feel better, and be healthier than an out-of-shape 160-pounder of the same height.)

CONCLUSIONCONCLUSION

If you're willing to put in the effort that goes into a detailed documentation of your journey to a healthier lifestyle, Diet Power looks to be a powerful helper.

I lost 30 pounds (my goal) over a year's time with this program. I still weigh everyday and go back on the program when my weight starts heading back up. The program allows me to eat the things I would normally eat (for a diet) and calculate my exercise to know where I am everyday. I have kept the weight off for 3 years now. The only thing that could be better is if there was a phone app.

I used to like it a lot... until I switched to a Mac. Diet Power does not make a Mac version. I switched over to Calorie King (the purchased software, not the online program). It is similar but I do think that Diet Power adjusts your calorie goal more frequently. I also think that with any diet software, if you purchase it, there should also be a free app for your smart phone.

I've used this program often. I love that it works just as when I'm not connected to the internet.

Love this program! I used it along with a diet program to make sure that my nutritional needs were being met. If I got to the end of the week and found myself deficient in a certain nutrient, the program would help me find a list of recommended foods that were rich in that nutrient. Wonderful, easy to use diet aid software.

I lost 95 lbs in 2001/2002 and then 105 lbs in 2007/2008. Customer support is excellent! DP is a tool and not a diet in itself.

With the holiday season approaching rapidly, there are going to be many tasty treats and family feasts. It can be difficult to keep track of your eating especially with food in abundance. For anyone looking for a software that takes the brain work out of proper diet and exercise, there is a program called Diet Power. My wife and I can attest to the programs excellent course. We have both been amazed at what we thought was healthy and was not, or vice versa. It has really opened my eyes to what I was eating and has changed what I order or cook. I have been on it for about 2 weeks and am down 5 pounds, but you can use the program to maintain as well as gain weight. If you would like to know more please ask. The program is $39.99.

The coaching and information on the CD make it well worth it and seriously, if you had to meet with a dietician for even an hour you would pay way more!

Diet power has great recipes that you can save. I actually print them off and created a book that I can take with me so I always have ideas of what to cook and what I need to buy!

I have been on this program for 4 months and have lost a lot of weight (30lbs) It keeps you on track every day and has a score so you know what foods would be the best for the day. It is the perfect weight loss tool. I would recommend it to anyone! It is just about the math! I love it!

I have it installed at my summer home in the caribbean. I use it in the fall to show me how to gain weight. Ho Ho Ho! Keeps the reindeers in shape too! :)

Ralphie

Yes, it does let you save recipes. It also suggests what foods you should eat.

Brooklyn_Gal

Great idea w/ the laptop. I probably would have put in the office and then had one more excuse for not stickging to it.

felicia

does it not give food to follow or recipes? that would really help me.

Rose4U @------

Oh this is awesome! I actually loaded it to my laptop since that's always with me when I travel. And hotels have a gym so I don't miss out on making my points for exercise. Fifty bucks seemed like a small investment to to always be on top of my exercise and eating.
