The non-GMO movement is gaining steam as more companies are pushing for better labeling of products that contain GMO labeling. Some are even declaring themselves completely free of GMOs. Ben and Jerry’s became the second major food company, after Whole Foods, to commit to only non-GMO products. They plan to work on the transition through the rest of the year and complete it in 2024.
Several Ben and Jerry’s flavors are already GMO free, including Chocolate, Vanilla, Cherry Garcia, and Mint Chocolate Chunk. That flavor list will slowly expand over the course of the year as ingredients are switched to non-GMO and Fairtrade Certified. Now that you can buy ice cream without having to worry about GMOs, why not try some other non-GMO snacks this summer? Ciao Bella
This gelato and sorbet company has been offering flavorful frozen treats since the 1980s. Ciao Bella is committed to offering products that are natural and organic, extending to a line of 13 sorbet flavors and two kinds of sorbet bars that are GMO free. The Blood Orange sorbet is on the list of Oprah’s Favorite Things.
Annie’s
Annie’s is a popular natural food company that offers everything from French Dressing to macaroni and cheese. Their Bunny Fruit Snacks and Organic Fruit Bites are kid-friendly snacks that are non-GMO. If you are looking for something a little more filling and less sweet, their Pretzel Bunnies, in original and Honey Wheat are also GMO free.
Garden of Eatin’
Garden of Eatin’ is the maker of several kinds of chips and tortillas that are non-GMO. Coming in flavors like Blue Corn, Black Bean Chile and Pico De Gallo, the Garden of Eatin’ chips can satisfying any crunch craving you may have. If chips and tortillas aren’t for you, their organic microwave popcorn is also GMO free.
Angie’s
Speaking of popcorn, Angie’s specializes in healthier versions of popcorn and kettle corn. Two flavors of the Boom Chicka Pop Popcorn are non-GMO, Lightly Sweet and Sea Salt. Angie’s also has four flavors of their Kettle Corn that are non-GMO, Cinnamon Sugar, Salted Caramel, Sweet & Salty and Sweet & Spicy.
