Gwyneth Paltrow Battled Failing Health, Marriage with a New Diet

Gwyneth Paltrow, Academy Award winning actress, online lifestyle guru, and husband to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, has just released a cookbook called It’s All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That WIll Make You Look Good and Feel Great. The release accompanies recent reports of Paltrow’s health and marital woes.

After experiencing stroke-like symptoms in the garden of her North London home, tests revealed Paltrow had a vitamin-D deficiency, thyroid issues, congested liver, hormonal imbalances and a benign tumor on her ovary. Her doctor suggested she go on a 21-day elimination diet to help rid her body of toxins.

In an interview with SELF Magazine, Gwyneth said, “My doctor, Alejandro Junger, recommended that I cut out basically everything: dairy, sugar, gluten, anything processed. I was like, ‘What the f*** am I going to eat now?'”.

Her frustration with the strict diet eventually helped Paltrow to clean things up internally and emotionally, and is the basis of her new cookbook. Poor health, coupled with the mounting stress of a busy career that led to alcohol and sleeping pill abuse, put a strain on her marriage with Chris Martin. She told SELF that on the low-carb and gluten-free diet, “You feel lighter and your emotions get smoother. [I] had a lot of unexpressed anger. I’d…be alone in my car yelling at traffic or fighting with hangers in my closet…”

To make matters worse, she revealed she had a miscarriage at an unspecified time. In The Daily Mail’s Sunday magazine You, Paltrow said, “I had a really bad experience when I was pregnant with my third and it didn’t work out and I nearly died.”

Gwyneth’s health crises may not be abnormal, as the stress of a strained marriage often has drastic affects on the health of women. In a study by Nancy Henry, a doctoral candidate in clinical health psychology at the University of Utah, women in a stressful relationship were more likely than men to have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high blood sugar.

We’re happy to report that the diet and lifestyle change helped Paltrow cleanse her body and mind, ridding the anxiety between her and her husband. It’s speculated that Paltrow is back to singing “Yellow” in the shower and has lifted her ban on the performance of “Fix You” at Coldplay concerts. (At least we hope.)
