Denise Austin’s Side Effect: Skinny Redefines What Skinny Means

When it comes to fitness and wellness, there’s not much Denise Austin hasn’t done in her more than 30-year career. Last night, we were thrilled to be part of a rare first – a Twitter chat. While one of the country’s most renowned and beloved fitness experts is active on the social media channel, she’d yet to get up close and personal with her followers like she did in a chat hosted by DietsInReview.

We were thrilled to lead that conversation and introduce thousands of people to Denise and her new book, Side Effect: Skinny. “My goal is to redefine what skinny means — strong, fit, healthy, and energetic! A trimmer, healthier you!,” tweeted Denise about the direction of her book.

The idea behind Side Effect: Skinny is to help you create habits that can lead to lasting health, fitness, and even weight loss, and during the chat we discussed the key components of that plan. Calorie confusion, increasing metabolism, eating “skinny foods,” and overnight fasting were all answered by Denise during the one-hour chat.

She talked about Side Effect: Skinny’s 7-minute toning workout that “works all the muscles head to toe,” citing that in just seven minutes it’s impossible to get bored! Her Fat Blast Workout is also a key part of the book, and will help you to get moving (even when you don’t want to) because it’s fast, efficient and best of all effective. She’s insistent on keeping things interesting and her approach to fitness will ensure you don’t face the usual lulls of boredom and disinterest.

We tweeted about splurges too, giving in to those little cheats that we crave. In Side Effect: Skinny, Denise has built in a splurge day. She told us that she saves her own splurges for the weekend when she goes out for Mexican! For a chocolate craving, she told one tweep to look for quality dark chocolate that’s got those necessary antioxidants.

Finally, we asked Denise what everyone could do right here, right now to improve their health. We threw a lot of information at our followers in a very brief window, and we wanted them to walk away with something they could act on right away. We love that her answer was, in fact, as simple as walking.

Four winners took home a copy of Side Effect: Skinny last night, and several of our featured tweeps will be doing their own reviews and giveaways soon. If you can’t wait, you can grab your copy of Side Effect: Skinny right here.
