Giuliana Rancic’s Fitness Prep to Share the Spotlight With 51 Bikini-Clad Miss USA Beauties

What a tradition!

The annual Miss USA competition happens this weekend, with a few slight changes to make the event a bit more interesting to at-home viewers. The show, which airs live on Sunday, June 8 at 8PM ET on NBC, will last three hours, whereas before it was only two hours long. The idea of adding the extra hour is to allow viewers to get to know the girls a bit more thoroughly before Miss USA is crowned. The other addition to this year’s competition is the interactive hashtag #savethequeen. Throughout the live telecast, viewers can tweet #savethequeen to save their favorite lady’s spot in the finals. Of course, hosts Giuliana Rancic and MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts will be sharing the spotlight with the contestants in their roles as commentators of the show.

I was lucky enough to chat with Rancic and Roberts about their personal fitness regimens. The producers obviously picked a duo that could hold their own onstage—even next to 51 beautiful women—but I wondered if they were treating this job a little more seriously than other affairs.

Dancing With the Stars: Danica’s Out, Candace Carries On

This Dancing With the Stars recap comes with a heavy heart because Danica McKellar and Valentin Chmerkovskiy were eliminated. Though I am very openly rooting for Candace Cameron-Bure, it is still sad to see McKellar go. I love Winnie Cooper! The tango and samba routine during the celebrity dance duel was just not enough to make the cut. So bye bye!

Besides that big elimination, the big excitement came from the elaborate dances performed on this week’s episode. Also, Amy Purdy, who had a serious back and shoulder spasm last week, really pulled everything together once her doctors gave permission to let her keep on dancing. (Purdy had a very scary back injury while on the air, though she certainly pushed through the injury and was able to dance a very sexy tango with her partner Derek Hough.) This couple definitely deserved to stay on this week.

New Mom Ivanka Trump Shares Her Secrets to Dropping the Baby Weight

This month Ivanka Trump graces the cover of the Shape magazine, showing off her slim and strong post-baby body. Trump has lost about thirty pounds since having her second baby, which is a photo-worthy accomplishment. (The Shape cover was taken just a few months after Trump’s baby was born.) So how did she do it?

Trump discussed a few of her key moves, including how she fits workouts into her busy life as a mother, with the magazine: “I’ll take the stairs instead of the elevator, or when I’m on a phone call I’ll do squats or pace the room when I’m talking,” she saidd. Trump also said that she eats a lot healthier since becoming a mother, focusing on lean proteins instead of pasta and pizza.

But Trump isn’t the only celebrity mom to recently revel in her new post-baby body. Several stars are talking about losing the baby weight. Here are two more of our favorite moms who have recently made headlines:

Alicia Silverstone’s Clueless, Anecdotal Pregnancy Advice Leaves us Saying ‘As If!’

The Kind Mama - alicia silverstoneAlicia Silverstone is known for many things, like being an actress, star of Aerosmith videos, vegan, and champion for the environment. She is not, however, a licensed physician or even a wise shaman, though in her new book, The Kind Mama, she’s giving advice that has our experts seeing red and shouting, “As if!”

A few eyebrow-raising comments from the book include, “Bananas are a naughty food for a baby,” “Dairy leaves toxic sludge in your baby house (uterus),” “The diaper industry is fueled by corporate-backed pseudoscience,” and also, pretty much everything she talks about in the book is “yummy.”

We’ve been HERE before

This is not the first time the Clueless star has been in the news for her nontraditional parenting style. Wait, I didn’t mean to call her clueless, I meant she was in the 90s cult classic movie, Clueless. Actually, come to think of it, either way that sentence works. Anyway, there was that time she chewed up her toddler’s food and fed him from her own mouth, baby bird style. Then, she admitted to eating her own placenta after his birth. She didn’t just reach down, grab it and munch on it. It was in pill form, so it’s totally not weird.

Did she really just go there about infertility? Yep, she did.

I believe Alicia had good intentions when she wrote this book, but she has to know that some of her claims will be challenged. It’s widely known that our managing editor, Brandi Koskie, had infertility issues before giving birth to her daughter, so when she read Alicia’s one-size-fits-all fertility rule about simply “cleaning up your baby house,” “having lots of yummy sex,” and avoiding fertility drugs, she had a swift response:

“Doesn’t that just sound delightful and peachy keen? Well, I’m here to tell you that Alicia is delusional.
