Irina Shayk’s Swimsuit Diet and Workout

Sports illustarted Swinsuit 2011 CoverThe 2011 cover girl for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition has quite a healthy attitude towards eating and working out, perhaps a surprise to many. “I work out four or five times a week with my trainer,” says Shayk, “not because I want to be skinny, but because it just makes me feel good to start my day with a workout.” The Russian model says she feels comfortable at the gym, and enjoys physical activity. “I love to work out!”

Shayk enjoys traditional Russian dishes, which remind her of home. “My favorite meal is pelmeni,” she says. “It’s like dumplings with a meat. I miss all sorts of food from my home country. But every weekend I try to go the Russian supermarket and get something or cook it at home.”

Shayk knows how to indulge, she admitted to occasionally taking a day off to spend in bed eating pizza and watching TV. “I’m never dieting,” she said, but makes eating healthy and staying active part of her lifestyle because it improves her overall mood. “It’s very important to take care of your health,” she says. “I work out a lot, love boxing and Pilates, but I also eat healthy food and drink a lot of water. But the most important thing is to be happy and to be in love with your body!”
