Diets in Review - Find the Right Diet for You

Win a Copy of The New Sonoma Diet

When we hear the word Sonoma, what comes to mind are miles and miles of lush green fields of grape vineyards, groves of olive and orange trees and some of the nation’s most premiere restaurants specializing in that unique and healthy California cuisine.

Five years ago, Dr. Connie Guttersen wrote The Sonoma Diet, a breakthrough plan that used the bounty of the Sonoma Valley as the cornerstone for this healthy and fresh eating weight loss plan. Now, Dr. Guttersen has updated her bestselling program to bring you a plan that reflects the latest findings in nutritional science, as well as the culinary jewels born from the Golden State’s rich soil and farmland.

The New Sonoma Diet is packed with practical information, decadent recipes and go-to lists and tips for making healthy eating as simple and as straightforward as picking a Valencia orange from a Sonoma Valley orange tree and noshing away. By following the plan for just 10 days, you are practically guaranteed a trimmer and healthier you. The secret to the plan is eating the right foods in the right portions.

“I decided that a one-and-done diet book was not the way to go,” says Guttersen. “This revised version of the original incorporates the latest nutrition science, which makes the Sonoma way an even more effective tool for weight-loss. Other benefits from following the plan include reducing risk for inflammation, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes and also providing more energy throughout each day. The Sonoma way also allows a glass of wine with meals, a rewarding and healthful way to enjoy life.”

Watch our interview with Dr. Guttersen as she explains the difference between a diet, which she says has a start and end and a 90 percent fail rate, and a lifestyle, which is a commitment to a way of living. She discusses the new nutritional research included in the book and how the book meets the new dietary guidelines that published this year. Learn how working at the Culinary Institute of America has helped her discover the healthy and delicious flavors you’ll find in her more than 50 recipes.

The New Sonoma Diet is also strongly supported by an online community of health-minded and food-loving folks. By subscribing to the online site, you can receive personalized meal plans, recipes, wine pairing suggestions, 24-hour tools to track progress, plus daily motivation and support for a richer, deeper experience for optimal results.

In the book, you will find:

  • Detailed diet plans and menus
  • New Sonoma Express quick meals and Sonoma Made Simple, with a “cook once, eat twice” philosophy and time-saving kitchen strategies
  • New recipe ideas for family, gluten-free, and on-the-go meals, as well as breakfast
  • Ideas for entertaining wine country-style, with food and wine pairings
  • An updated list of the Sonoma 12 Power Foods
  • A pullout guide for on-the-go dining and grocery shopping

Here is a look at a handful of the tantalizing and healthy fare that you’ll feast on while following The New Sonoma Diet.

I would love to win The New Sonoma Diet! I have followed the original diet for 2 months and have lost 15 lbs. Better than that I have learned how to live healthy, not just for weight loss but for the rest of my life. I would love to upgrade my diet with the new information in this new edition...for enhancing my meals and my health, not just for 2011 but for the rest of my life.

These sound like great recipes; I know diets don't work, one has to change their lifestyle. I would hope this book will help to achieve that. Thanks

This sounds like it is right up my alley! I love food and am definitely a food lover, but I need to be eating healthier without it costing a ton of money and being all about a ton of food that I can't find or would never eat. I really like the way this lifestyle sounds and believe I can make it work for me.

I think it could be mine & my husband's new lifestyle, not just a diet. Because to me it is about continuing & staying with it.

Oooo! A pull-out for grocery shopping. I am IN.
I'm trying to A. lose weight and B. eat a more healthy diet. Sounds like I could accomplish both with this book!

The book sounds great. Though is says "diet," the plans look like something that anyone can maintain- most "diets" don't belong in that category. This book would definitely help me continue to eat healthier meals that also taste great.
