Kithe Brewster Loses 115 Pounds with the Duke Diet

Our follow-up with celebrity stylist Kithe after his impressive year of weight loss.

There's nothing I like more than a weight loss success story, and Kithe Brewster has a good one. I had a chance to meet this celebrity fashion stylist in earlier this year in March when he began his journey. Just one month in to following the Duke Diet the had lost 22 pounds off of his starting weight of 301 pounds. Kithe had spent years taking care of the likes of Eve, Julianne Moore, Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum and helping them to become fashion icons, meanwhile his health had gone the way of white shoes after Labor Day - unheard of.

In that interview he explained how his decision to change his life was an abrupt one. Last summer Kithe fainted at a fashion show and thought it was due to exhaustion, no doubt a result of his non-stop, international schedule. The real reason was because of his high blood pressure and cholesterol. “Something had to be done. I didn’t have any more chances,” he told us.

"I have a chance to grasp my life again!" Kithe told us in an interview this week, in which we discussed his 100-pounds lost milestone. That's not the most impressive part, it's been 9.5 months since Kithe's journey began and he is actually down 115 pounds!

He relies on The Duke Diet, a medically supervised program out of North Carolina. "Duke Diet is about eating more of the things that are good for you and less that is bad for you… it's the perfect balance." He chose the program because of the medical oversight as well as for its online accessibility, something his international agenda demands. He loves waking up in the morning to see his daily message already in his email and that's something he credits with keeping him on track.

He follows a reduced-calorie diet and says "walking is the key to this entire thing," about his fitness regimen. He has access to the world's best trainers and he chooses walking because it works. Kithe uses the treadmill to speed walk 45 minutes each day, where he also does stretches.

Kithe put his new body to the test during September's notable Fashion Week, where he helped plan and produce three shows. He raved about the unprecedented energy he had, calling himself "an Ever Ready battery."

"I've accomplished a lot," Kithe says about his ten-year career in the U.S. "Losing my life over obesity was something I could change." He called death from obesity "not acceptable."

To celebrate he's "stalking Ellen at the moment," so that he can do his big reveal on her show, a goal he shared with us in our first conversation.

If you want to diet like the stars, make Kithe the role model to follow. Follow a healthy diet, integrate even simple exercise like walking, and set a goal.
