Yoga Dictionary

Created by B.K.S. Iyengar, a highly respected yoga master who first learned yoga in his country of India as a way to heal himself from tuberculosis, Iyengar yoga incorporates props, like belts, cushions, chairs, and blocks into its regular teachings. Iyengar still teaches his style of yoga today in his Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India with his son and daughter.

Iyengar yoga is a therapeutic form of yoga and has been extensively studied in clinical settings as a way to improve and support health and reduce complications and symptoms associated with health conditions.
