Deal With Emotional Issues

Healthy Appetite Strategies

Sometimes the urge to eat has nothing to do with physical hunger. Emotional issues like stress, anger, fear, sadness and even happiness can trigger us to eat. How can you end emotional eating? Try to figure out your triggers; a food/mood log can help. Then, come up with a list of non-food fixes. For instance, if you discover that you typically raid the vending machine before the big weekly meeting (in other words, when you’re stressed), make a plan to take a walk or chat with a co-worker during this time instead.
