Reduced Fat Food Labels

Food Label Glossary

In order to call a food item “reduced or lower” in fat it needs to have at least 25% less fat per serving than an appropriate reference food (or for meals and main dishes, at least 25% less fat per 100 gram serving). "__% Fat Free" may be used if food meets the requirements for "low fat." “100% Fat Free” can be used if food meets criteria for "fat free" or "light."
