You decided to splurge one too many times.

5 Resolution Excuses Busted

There was leftover Christmas candy, a birthday cake at work, and a happy hour gone awry, and you indulged each time telling yourself there was always tomorrow. There is always tomorrow, but there's also today right in front of you. Eating well, losing weight, and being healthy doesn't have anything to do with deprivation. It does have a lot to do with planning and making choices. You can have the birthday cake at work, just don't have any after dinner. If the Christmas candy is tempting, just throw it away.

The Fix: Plan ahead and know what your day, or even your week, holds. If you know there's a Super Bowl party on Sunday, plan healthier versions of your favorite recipes, and moderate your splurges throughout the week. If you know there's a birthday party, make the choice to celebrate without eating a piece of cake; and if you do, just own those calories and don't give in to two splurges in one day. It's OK to indulge once in a while; but when once-in-a-while turns in to the norm then it's not splurging, it's just the way you eat.
