Quinoa was hot in 2011, but this gluten-free grain continues to be a favorite because it is so versatile in salads, side dishes and even breakfast.

Cookbook author and radio host of The Bikini Chef, Susan Irby, says, “Quinoa is naturally gluten free and has a nutty flavor, but people with nut allergies can enjoy quinoa allergy-free.
