Smothered Steak And Onions

This diner classic only has less than 200 calories.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz. ground lean turkey or beef
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1- 14 1/2 oz. can beef broth, divided
  • 6 Tbs. (1 1/2 ounces) dried fine bread crumbs
  • 2 cups sliced onion
  • 3 Tbs. all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine meat, black pepper, 1/4 cup beef broth, and bread crumbs
  2. Mix well with hands to combine
  3. Using a 1/3 cup measure as a guide, form 6 patties
  4. Place patties in a large skillet sprayed with cooking spray and brown on both sides
  5. Layer onions evenly over browned patties
  6. In a covered jar, combine remaining 1 1/2 cups beef broth and flour
  7. Shake well to combine
  8. Pour broth mixture evenly over onions
  9. Lower heat
  10. Cover and simmer 20 to 25 minutes
  11. For each serving, place 1 patty on plate and evenly spoon onion sauce over top

Very quick and easy. Husband enjoyed meal, did not even know it was weight watchers menu. Added a vegetable and side salad - only had 5 points for dinner - great recipe!! Will diffinetly add to my recipe box.
