can you lose weight without counting calories

Has there been any long term success in obese individuals in losing weight without counting calories?
(ie. by just eating whole foods, etc.)

Absolutely! Many people are able to have lasting weight loss by switching to healthier foods. Cutting out processed sugars and grains is a good way to start. However, portion control is still important, because it's still possible to binge on healthy foods.
