Duchess Kate Pregnant with Another Royal Case of Morning Sickness

prince-george-official

The Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant again! According to the official announcement, Kate is being treated once again for hyperemesis gravidarum, or extreme clinical morning sickness. She suffered from this same condition during her pregnancy with Prince George and is currently under the care of doctors at Kensington Palace.

Hyperemesis Gravidarum is morning sickness, but so much worse than what most women experience. The nausea and vomiting can be so severe that the woman begins to lose weight. This is very worrying and dangerous as pregnant women are expected to be gaining weight during pregnancy, according to the Washington Post. There is possible risk of dehydration in addition to psychological or social problems, making it difficult for her to complete activities of daily life.

Regular morning sickness is usual–if not expected– while hyperemesis gravidarum is much more rare, though not unheard of. Doctors don’t quite know what causes the exacerbation of normal morning sickness symptoms.

New Mom Duchess Kate’s Normal, Healthy Approach to Motherhood is Refreshing

The Great Kate Wait may be over, but there’s no less attention turning toward the most famous new mom in the world. The Duchess of Cambridge, or as we commoners like to call her, Kate, delivered the third heir to the English throne in July to global media fascination; but the reality of her postpartum experience has been a quiet one that any new mom would want and, frankly, deserves.

New at Vanity Fair is a four-page, in-depth look at the private life of Kate with Prince William and their new son, His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge. The article is an adaptation taken from author Katie Nicholl’s most recent royal biography.

She discloses how Kate has been “cocooned” by her family at their country estate, Bucklebury, outside of London, and that the new mom feels “safer [there] than anywhere else in the world.” Her young family moved in with Kate’s parents just before the baby’s arrival and have stayed there most of the summer, only recently returning to digs of their own.

Most interestingly, the story gives a glimpse at the often coveted information for how Kate cares for herself. While pregnant, she practiced prenatal yoga – benefits of which exist for the mom, baby, and even for postpartum recovery. During one of the hottest summers on record in England, Kate was known to swim in the family’s pool – not only a great low-impact form of exercise to maintain strength during pregnancy, but a fun way to stay cool when hormones meet heat! And on the well-protected grounds, Kate frequently took walks, one of the best ways to ease the nesting jitters and stay active during pregnancy.

Before and after the baby, Kate’s mom made sure she had healthful meals, even whipping up fresh fruit smoothies and keeping plenty of the expecting mom’s favorite muesli snack bars on hand. (more…)

2024 Celebrity Diet Trends Align with Yahoo’s Top Search Terms

We’re as guilty as anyone else, but it’s certainly that time of year to put together the lists. It’s a way for us to archive the time that has passed and even put it in to perspective. It’s also simply a lot of fun!

Yahoo’s Top Search terms for 2024 were just released, and as usual, the list is littered with celebrity names. The election took the number one spot this year, so at least we’re looking for a little bit of substance when we’re not searching for Lindsay Lohan’s latest shenanigans or how much weight a Kardashian sister has or hasn’t lost.

This year’s top 10 search terms aligned quite nicely with some of the biggest trending topics in diet and weight loss, namely for their celebrity connections.

We don’t know if has made any top baby name lists yet, but Kate was certainly the name to have on Yahoo! this year. Both Kate Middleton and Kate Upton made it in to the top 10 searches.

The Duchess ranked, no doubt, for the ridiculous photo scandal that never should have happened, but everyone also had a keen eye on her weight. That’s sure to become a point of continued interest as she and her prince announced they’re pregnant with the next royal heir this week. She made The Dukan Diet famous during her wedding planning, so whatever method she uses to lose the baby weight will no doubt become all the rage, too. (more…)

Get Kate Middleton’s Tangerine Jean Figure by Spring

Alright ladies (and slightly vain gents). Spring is in the air and that means one thing: It’s time to start thinking about shorts and skinny capri season.

If we can learn anything from Kate Middleton and her now famed curve-hugging ‘tangerine jeans,’ it’s that it’s never too early to start working on our gams in anticipation of warmer weather.

Kate was recently spotted at Olympic Park in London promoting the upcoming summer Olympics, playing field hockey in some seriously orange, hip-hugging jeans. And from the looks of her silhouette, she’s already figure-ready for spring and beyond.

So how can we get a royally fit bod like Kate’s? Of course it starts with nutrition. A lean body requires a healthy diet. I’m a firm believer that you can’t out-train bad eating habits. So start by making sure you’re incorporating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet, drinking lots of water, and cutting back on sugar, refined carbohydrates, and fatty meats. (more…)

Kate Middleton’s Diet Not to be Revealed on NBC’s Inside the Royal Marriage

Royal watchers will get an inside look at the first six months of marriage for Prince William and his new wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, in a special airing on NBC December 13. Hosted by Natalie Morales, “William & Kate: Inside the Royal Marriage” will delve deep into the personal lives of these newlyweds. Today we spoke with Matt Drury, executive producer, and Chris Jackson, Getty Images’ award-winning Royal photographer, who worked on the special and let us in on a little bit of what we’ll see on the program and what it’s like to work so closely with the couple.

We’ll see how William and Kate are building a private life that resembles normal as much as the most famous couple in the world can. Drury told us that their home is quite remote and that they do not have any live-in staff. He also noted some insight shared by Royal friend Ben Fogle, who said that the Duke and Duchess are very selective about the friends they associate with, suggesting an “informal agreement that if anyone does talk, they’ll very quickly find themselves banished from the inner circle.”

One of the things that no one ever discusses is Kate’s diet. In fact, Drury let us know that nothing about Kate’s diet will be revealed on the NBC special. (more…)

Kate Middleton’s Photoshopped Image Doesn’t Help Eating Disorder Rumors

There will be no grazie to Grazia Magazine who recently photoshopped Kate Middleton‘s already thin frame down to waif size for their Royal Wedding edition cover.

After months of denying any alterations to the photo, Grazia finally admitted that the too-skinny result was a Photoshop accident. The magazine defended itself, saying there were no solo images of Kate leaving Westminster Abbey in her Alexander McQueen gown so a photo of the new couple had to be altered. Grazia editors photoshopped Prince William out of  the photo, forcing them to copy over another arm for her and inadvertently making her appear smaller.

“[Grazia] would like to reassure all our readers that we did not purposely make any alternations to the Duchess of Cambridge’s image to make her appear slimmer, and we are sorry if this process gave that impression,” an apology statement read in the magazine.

Rumors That Kate Middleton Has An Eating Disorder Unhelpful

There have been rumblings and rumors recently that Kate Middleton and her sister Pippa may have eating disorders. Perhaps these rumors have been prompted by the fact that their pictures have been posted to pro-ana and pro-mia websites as thinspiration. So many parallels have been drawn between Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and Princess Diana, who struggled with bulimia, that I am not surprised.

It is extremely common for us to be attracted to someone like one of our parents, which includes mental health struggles or irrational thinking patterns. It would not be surprising for Prince William to be attracted to similarities to his mother that he sees in Kate, including those things that might make her susceptible to an eating disorder. However, it could be a very dangerous message for the public to think that in order to be chosen by royalty one must have an eating disorder.

It was well publicized that Kate was working out prior to her wedding, just like most other brides. Her parents own a successful business and her in-laws are royalty, so it is not surprising that she would be able to dedicate a significant amount of time to working out and looking her best for her wedding. Losing weight prior to a wedding is not really enough to accuse anyone of having an eating disorder.

Pippa Middleton’s Diet and Workout Plan

What’s it like being the sister of a princess? While I’m not a Royal watcher, I did hear a little joking about the presumed jealousy that must be brewing in Pippa Middleton, sister of Kate and sister-in-law to one Prince William.

Yes, I’m sure it’s a royal pain to be considered Britain’s most eligible bachelorette and now to be rumored to be back dating an ex-flame George Percy, who just so happens to be the son of the Duke of Northumberland and one of the richest men in Great Britain (Percy’s inheritance will be worth a reported $350 million).

She also doesn’t seem to be short on self-esteem, as the 27-year-old is known for her athletic-level of dedication to exercise and diet.

One look at Pippa’s figure and you can see that she has the body of an athlete. That’s because she is an athlete. Pippa is known for taking part in triathlons and other events, not to mention she was a college athlete, winning scholarships for hockey and tennis to Marlborough College. (more…)
