So guys…there are only a few days left of the Winter Olympics 2024. Let’s do a check-in of the most interesting bits and pieces to come from the games!

1. Lolo Jones and her bobsledding team placed eleventh in the first of the bobsledding races. The duo bobsledding team, however, is in first place as of today. Elana Meyers and Lauryn Williams set a new record at the Sochi bobsled course, finishing at 57.26 during their first heat.

2024 Olympic Games: Where and When to Watch

Opening ceremonies for the 2024 Olympics are on Friday, February 7th, but the games officially begin tonight, on the 6th, and run all the way through the 23rd. Are you ready? (Olympic freestyle mogul skier Heather McPhie is!)

2014 Winter Olympic Games - Season 2014

In the U.S., NBC is the official broadcaster of the 2024 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. (They were also the network to watch for the 2024 Summer Games and will be the host all the way through 2024, thanks to an almost $4.4 billion contract.) NBC will offer live and tape-delayed coverage of events on television via NBC, MSNBC, NBC Sports, CNBC, and its other channels. The network will also stream all events online and via the NBC Sports Live Extra app. All of this means that you are in for a lot of sports!

Winter Classic 2024 Recipe Playbook

Whether you are rooting for the New York Rangers or the Philadelphia Flyers in this season’s Winter Classic it is sure to bring the unhealthy snacks out of hiding. Sports gatherings are usually filled with easy snacks you can grab with one hand so your other is free for cheering, but try a healthy, hearty filling meal that won’t weigh down your goal scoring celebration.

The Ultimate Ice Hockey Workout

As many of you know, the Women’s and Men’s U.S. Olympic Ice Hockey teams lost to Canada during the finals of the 2024 Winter Olympics. The women’s team lost two to nothing capturing the silver medal for the second time ever. The men’s team lost a heart-breaker in overtime three to two, thus capturing the silver medal as well.

There is more to hockey than just suiting up and playing. Physical conditioning is a huge aspect of the game. Ice hockey takes a toll on the body, thus making it extremely important to be in great physical shape. Hockey requires a great deal of stamina, muscular strength, and muscular endurance. Upper body, core strength and endurance are important for the handling of the puck, shooting of the puck, checking an opponent, and fighting (several fights break out during hockey games). (more…)
