ID Glide Lubricant is a water based female lubricant that is meant to improve intimacy and sexual satisfaction. This can even be used on sex toys and they add it has been thoroughly tested.

They have it approved by the FDA to help ensure that it is actually properly labeled and that it suits its claimed use.  It is marketed as being one of the most naturally feeling lubricants, so it’s intended to not have a sticky or uncomfortable consistency.  This can also be used alongside a condom without issue.

Many brands were examined but Libitrinex stood out as being the best for overall sexual satisfaction in women. It has a high dosage of natural aphrodisiacs which aim to improve blood flow to the sexual organs, increase sexual desire, and support overall intimacy. Their full ingredients include the following:

Water Glycerin Propylene Glycol Cellulose Gum EEDTA
Carbomer PEG-90M Tetrahydroxypropyl Ethylenediamine Methylparaben Sodium Benzoate
Potassium Sorbate

Propylene Glycol: As synthetic liquid absorbing ingredient often used in cosmetics due to its potential for regulating liquid. This is also found within pharmaceuticals and even food.  The FDA has granted it GRAS status, meaning it is likely to be safe when added in controlled amounts often found within topical aids.

Cellulose Gum: Often added in foods and processed goods, this thickener and binder is found naturally within the cell walls of plants. This is not digestible and it will be degraded with a slight laxative effect.

There has been some concerns over its effects, as there have been studies performed to review whether or not it could lead to inflammation.

EDTA: Water soluble chemical used to bind together minerals and metals. Web MD does note that in certain amounts it can be damaging and that it can potentially cause:

  • Low levels of calcium, reduced potassium, and low magnesium.
  • Kidney damage, nausea, and vomiting,
  • Diarrhea, skin issues, and low blood pressure.
  • Fever, vomiting, and headache.

Carbomer: Thickening ingredient which helps with the free flow of ingredients. It comes in the form of a white powder and according to the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel this is:

“Safe to use in cosmetic products”

PEG-90M: A water soluble lubricant that can help bind ingredients and emulsify surrounding additives. The EWG.com has rated this as having a safety rating of 3 out of 10, with the closest to 10 an ingredient is, the more likely it is to be harmful.

Tetrahydroxypropyl Ethylenediamine: This blends with compounds within to formula to help keep it from affecting the overall stability of the product. This is known as a chelating agent, as it can support the visibility and functionality.

Methylparaben: A preservative which is often added to things like cosmetics and topical aids.  There has been much controversy by watchdog groups who have reported studies showcasing how it could potentially lead to cancer and reproductive harm.

The FDA has not stated whether or not it is actually harmful and they add:

“do not have information showing… parabens… have an effect on human health”

However, there are serious safety concerns expressed by many groups.

Sodium Benzoate: This potent preservative is found naturally within thins like cinnamon prunes, and cranberries. When it is used in its pure form it prevents fungi and bacteria from growing.

A review by the Cosmetics Database expressed worry about concerns it could lead to:

“developmental and reproductive toxicity”

They found there is a link with this ingredient and cancer.

Potassium Sorbate: Food preservative also found within cosmetics that is made synthetically.  It has the potential to be an irritant to the skin and eyes.

ID GLIDE LUBRICANT QUALITY OF INGREDIENTS

They focus on many processed ingredients which are standard to many kinds of standard cosmetics. These kinds of additives for the most part do not offer an improvement of sexual health. There is concern that some of the ingredients may be harmful, as they have the potential for toxic effects.

Artificial additives within this are used to bind, thicken, and preserve the formula. Some of these ingredients are heavily regulated since in higher amounts they can lead to some damaging side effects.

Most of what it can offer is a moisture locking effect, so as to prevent dryness during intercourse. However, it will not affect libido or make one feel more sexually responsive, other than being able to mimic the sensation one would have when stimulated. It will not affect ones blood flow, energy levels, sense of wellness, or overall sexuality.

THE PRICE AND QUALITY OF ID GLIDE LUBRICANT

No direct sales are offered but they do provide a list of retailers. One website sells a 2.2 fl. oz. bottle for $10.99, which is about standard for most water based lubricants.

Overall there are far too many processed ingredients in this as well as 3 potentially hazardous preservatives. Gelling ingredients, stabilizers thickeners, and other common cosmetic additives are used. While they can help retain moisture for a sufficient amount of time, they have no benefit in terms of supporting blood flow, libido, sexual desire, or sexual satisfaction other than reducing the likelihood of dryness.

Because of this limited use it makes it a fairly generic formula that is like many other water based lubricants. The main issue with this is that some may not like adding so many processed and artificial ingredients on their bodies.

They also claim it is safe on adult toys and that it will not promote staining, but there is no evidence provided to help support this claim. It’s unknown how they came to this conclusion, and whether or not they have done any research.

Our best of list will go over what brands were seen as the best at supporting female sexuality and pleasure.

“Makes it easy to stay wet and it really makes it better for your partner”

“Every time I used it felt sticky and it just would not last long. The pump is good and I like the bottle but it does not really do the trick”

There is also the lack of libido enhancing effects, as it is meant to be a lubricant and not a aphrodisiac blend.

CONCLUSION – DOES ID GLIDE LUBRICANT WORK?

Inside of this product is a very standard blend of ingredients, some of which can help provide moisture. While this effect can last, it’s important to note that there are no other benefits provided. This will not improve the body internally by improving sexual desire or sexual output. Some user reviews were also mixed, as there were issues with the stickiness and overall lack of effects. There were also positive reviews, but none of them mentioned it affected their libido, which is because this lubricant only is intended to improve moisture.

Hilton Johnson says:

This product is awesome. Me and my husband use it. She has been a consumer of the product for at least 7 years. Initially we purchased from a shop here in Kansas City ( Missouri) at $40+ a bottle, now we order from Amazon and get double the product for half of the store price. This product is great for “back door” sex.
