Food Find: Vitalicious Muffins, Brownies and Muffin Tops

If you avoid carb-filled muffins and brownies because of the nutrient-less and dead weight they fill your belly (and hips) with, then put down your Atkins bread and grab your toaster.

Maybe this isn’t the newest of food finds, but sometimes certain products,  like Vitalicious, deserve more than just a review.

Vitalicious is a company that makes muffins, muffin tops, brownies, and cake mixes. And, the best part is that each yummy carb-y treat contains just 100 calories. But unlike many faux diet foods, Vitalicous contains only natural ingredients, including whole grain flour, organic sugar, egg whites, and cocoa. Even Hungry Girl, Lisa Lillien, has given Vitalicious products her own Hungry Girl seal of approval.

Each Vitalicious treat is low fat, high in fiber (four to seven grams), trans-fat free, protein-packed (four to nine grams), cholesterol-free and low in sodium.

Here are the various flavors of Vitalicious muffins, muffin tops and brownies:

  • Chocolate Mint VitaTops
  • Banana Nut VitaTops and VitaMuffins
  • Triple Chocolate Chunk VitaTops
  • Deep Chocolate VitaTops and VitaMuffins
  • Fudgy Peanut Butter Chip VitaTops

Vitalicious provided DietsInReview with their Super Sampler Pack of 100-calorie VitaTops, and VitaBrownies. Our peer-tested feedback drew some big cheers: You can’t go wrong with any flavor.

Craving chocolate? Munch on a Fudgy Peanut Butter Chip VitaTop. Need the carb-comfort of hearty grains? Reach for an AppleBerry, BlueBran or RaisinBran VitaMuffin. Need a sidekick for your chili or tomato soup? You can’t go wrong with the Golden Corn VitaTop.

For 100 calories, you can even have two!

You can purchase Vitalicous in the freezer section of your grocery store. But if choices are slim, hit Vitalicous.com. You can order your favorite Vitalicious flavors by the 12- or 24-count box, customize your own 24-count package or select from a handful of sampler packs.

Just make sure that you keep them in your freezer until you’re ready to eat them. You can thaw them slightly by popping them in the microwave, lightly toasting them, or just leaving them out at room temperature for a few minutes. But you can also eat them straight out of the freezer. Trust us – all Vitalicious products retain their moisture and softness even while frozen. They’re just a little cold.

You can doll them up too. Add a schmear of low-fat peanut butter, a scoop of low-fat ice cream or frozen yogurt, a squirt of light whipped cream, or dunk them in your morning cup of joe.

Get creative or as uncreative as you want with Vitalicious. Just get them.
