Synapsyl is a daily nutritional supplement that is being marketed as a nootropic aid. Its advertisers say that it is excellent for improving thinking speed and accuracy, recall, and focus by altering the supply of neurochemicals in in the brain.
They call it “Viagra for the brain” because it increases blood flow throughout the body. Synapsyl further claims that it is beneficial for lengthening the life of brain cells and for reducing the negative effects of aging on the brain.
The mental performance aid that has received the most critical attention is Memotenz. Professionals in the nootropics industry have been taking notice, and many of them have begun using it regularly themselves. Click here to see why many consider Memotenz to be the most important cognitive enhancement device on the market.
|Ginkgo Biloba||St. John’s Wort|
Ginkgo Biloba: A nutritional supplement that is taken to improve memory and prevent cognitive decline. Ginkgo biloba extract is taken from the leaves of the large ginkgo tree, which has been cultivated in China for over 1,500 years.
Ginkgo is one of the most reliable nootropic ingredients on the planet, and its history of effectiveness is well documented. Ginkgo has been shown to increase the quantity of blood flow throughout the body, and to the head in particular.
Improved blood flow can be beneficial for mental functioning and brain health, and has been shown to help increase thinking speed, attention span, and memory functions. Increased circulation is also beneficial for a number of other biological functions including:
Despite its effects on circulation, ginkgo is not thought to have any negative impact on blood pressure or heart health. It is also considered an adaptogen that may improve the brain’s ability to function under stress. It also benefits processing speed and accuracy, reaction time, and may even have benefits for eye function and vision.
Ginkgo is one of the most consumed herbs on the planet and is considered highly effective for nootropic purposes. Our team or health and wellness experts recommend it very highly.
St. John’s Wort: Extracts taken from the hypericum perforatum plant. Originally considered an invasive weed, St. John’s wort is now known as a natural antidepressant and neurotransmission aid. It has also been used in the treatment of:
St. John’s wort has been shown to increase the sensitivity of the brain’s dopamine and serotonin receptors. This makes it easier for it to detect and process the presence of these chemicals which are responsible for improved mood, outlook, and mental processing.
DMAE Bitartrate: A compound that is related to choline that may be able to help prevent oxidation in the brain. There is not enough data currently to support calling DMAE bitartrate a nootropic aid.
The nootropic trait that DMAE has shown the most facility for is preventing cognitive decline. It is possible that it can help prevent the buildup of age pigment in the brain through a process known as methyl donation.
There is still not much data that supports this function. The only use that DMAE Bitartrate has a definitive body of evidence supporting is improved exercise function. It has been potentially connected to some side effects including:
Vinpocetine: A man-made compound that is designed to resemble a compound found in the periwinkle plant vinca minor. Vinpocetine has been marketed as a potent nootropic and memory aid, however most of the objective data is not supportive of these claims.
There has been one study that has suggested that vinpocetine may increase the memory functions of healthy adults, however there is also a good deal of criticism about the methodology and the accuracy of that study as well. There are other studies that suggest that it may have some benefits for preventing cognitive decline, especially in the elderly.
Vinpocetine’s effects are attributed to an increase in blood flow to the brain. It may also possible that it offers some forms neurological protection, however there needs to be more data before our team is ready to recommend vinpocetine to our readers.
There have been some notable health concerns raised in regards to vinpocetine. It is possible that it is connected to a number of side effects in people including:
The most concerning thing about vinpocetine are the reports that it may have contributed to fatal drops in blood pressure in some patients. It can impact users blood pressure considerably, and any customer that is taking blood pressure or heart medication should talk to their doctor about whether or not vinpocetine is safe for them.
Synapsyl uses some effective ingredients in their blend, and they use some ingredients that are also not known to be as useful. Overall, their blend may have some slight benefits for memory, however it is unlikely to be particularly noticeable to the consumer.
Ginkgo biloba is known as a potent memory aid and is rated as one of the most effective nootropic supplements on the market today, according to our panel of experts. Ginkgo has been used for centuries by humans and it’s anecdotal history has been thoroughly vetted clinically.
Neither vinpocetine nor DMAE have convincing evidence that they are effective nootropics. They may have some benefits for preventing cognitive decline in older users, however they should not be taken as study drugs or with the expectation of boosting mental performance.
Synapsyl is sold through their own home page, and through several independent supplement dealer’s pages as well. It is not available in stores. As of the date of this article’s publication, these is the pricing structure listed on their website:
This price is about average for products of this nature. Buyers should beware that past users have complained about inaccurate or fraudulent charges from Synapsyl and should monitor their credit card or bank statements to ensure all charges are verified.
Synapsyl is manufactured and distributed by Anthea Ltd. They can be contacted in the following ways:
Phone Number: (800) 298-8897
Address: PO Box 153201 Suite #1055
Tampa, FL 33634
There are quite a few complaints about Anthea’s business practices. Many of their previous customers have posted about their shipping, returns, and customer service policies, with some even threatening legal action against the company. There is no evidence that any of them have followed through on those threats.
Synapsyl has received particularly harsh reviews from former customers. On one website that distributes their pills 14 out of 16 of their customer reviews have given Synapsyl one star, their lowest possible rating. This is a sample of some of the things that people are writing about it:
“I never really saw any benefits, but I did have incredibly intense and frightening dreams. I woke up screaming more than once, which was all I needed to dump the rest of this junk down the drain.”
“Totally worthless garbage product. I wish I could say it made me smarter, but all it seemed to do was make me edgy and angry all the time.”
“Took this stuff to study better for a test. I passed out, and totally flunked the next day. Great job ant ruining college for me, jerks.”
The most common issue that customers had with Synapsyl were regarding shipping and customer service complaints. Complaints about the product itself centered around its ineffectiveness and the side effects that some users experienced.
It is unlikely that most users will experience many noticeable benefits from taking Synapsyl. It is highly unlikely that they will get any kind of “boosting” results that other, more effective nootropics offer.
Their blend features ginkgo biloba and St. John’s wort, which our team recommends, however they combine those two useful ingredients with other less useful ones, and the resultant supplement is mediocre at best. Given the potential side effects that users may experience, and the strong backlash from former customers, our team cannot recommend Synapsyl at this time.
It scored remarkably in metrics like increased memory performance, attention span length, problem solving skills, and more. Click here to see all of the potential benefits that Memotenz can offer its users.
